Rios has 200x the chin of Khan and is not shopworn like Morales is so I'd have to pick him

    Rios....easy....Alvarado would also beat Garcia.

Garcia is not very good....very average.

all garcia needs to do is wait a year or two then get out of his deal with golden fag and rios will be finished.

Garcia can even lose to Morales in the rematch! He isn't that good. Rios wins within 5 rounds. I want to see Rios against Matthysse or Marquez instead.

BTW the judges scorecards were a total disgrace. I only saw Rios winning only one round.

Nah he won more than one round.

I had him winning the first 3, then Alvarado taking over till the 6th, before Rios just overpowered him.

As for Rios-Garcia, I would take Rios for sure but his counter punching will make Rios work for it.

As for Garcia vs Alvarado, I think I would take Danny there. I think he's a smarter fighter.

Well if Rios does in fact fight Pac, he will take a terrible beating. Rios is tailor made for even a faded Pac.

If Rios and Garcia were to fight now though, both at their peaks, I'd pick Rios w/little hesitation.

Rios isn't Khan. He has an excellent chin. Garcia was underrated pre-Khan, but now he's overrated. Esp his power. He has pop in his left hook, but I think Rios could handle it. And in the long run, Rios is just the heavier handed, better chinned, and physically stronger of the two.

That was apparent last night. Alvarado, despite his size edge supposed being a big factor, was actually forced back by Rios' strength. That tells you there was no real size edge, as Rios has been a junior welter all along.

I think Rios beats Garcia, I'm POSITIVE Rios beats Khan, and I think at this point he'd likely be too much for old man Marquez.

I still maintain that Matthyse stops him, but JESUS CHRIST! Matthyse-Rios is a matchup that gives me a hard on.

He's not great. But he doesn't suck either.

He's one of those guys that does nothing particularly great but he has decent skills inspite of his unimpressive looking style.

He wouldn't beat any of the all time great fighters at 140, but he's good enough to be amongst the best in this group of guys.

Garcia is a stiff average fighter with what Neil would call a crutch in the form of solid fundamentals. Rios is a dull cunt.

Ohhh okay..then he only LOOKS dull...but in the ring he is kinda smart for a slugger...he needs to get hit 4 or 5 times with the same punch but eventually he learn to move his head...or put up his gloves...Amir Khan now he is DULL...

Rios is entertaining, of course he is, but he's a dummy. Khan is just Rios apprentice dummy.

    Mucking about with the weight issues, his dummy moves in the ring {if pressure fails, apply more pressure, if this fails, apply more, if this fails, speak to the judges}

Does he look smart to you?

Rios actually has a much higher ring IQ than Khan.

Not sure that's a fair comparison. Rios takes a way better shot... that allows him to be more relaxed and do what he trained to do.

    Both guys are fucking morons.

Yeah but Rios still does have a higher ring IQ.

He has crap defense, as bad as Khan, however he thinks about what he's doing far more than Khan, and reads his opponent more. Khan is literally a button mashing boxbot.

Rios is a fucking moron OUTSIDE the ring. Inside the ring he's not a bad thinker at all. Not to say he has the ring IQ of Chavez, or Duran, but he's not a dumb fighter. He knows exactly where to place his shots, and even knows when to throw just to land, and when to throw with evil intent. That is part of ring IQ.

Khan has NO CLUE what he's doing in the ring. NONE. ZERO. He just uses his speed, and the combos he practiced in the gym. But he has no real PLAN or purpose ever.

If Khan had made it to Floyd, it would have been a case of the fighter with the highest ring IQ of this generation vs the lowest ring IQ of this generation.

Rios is certainly no Robinson or Leonard in there.

But he definitely knows what he's doing. He's very good at jabbing his way into range, he gets low very well, has the ability to shorten and straighten his shots depending at what range he's at, and he's very good at working the body then the head, then back down to the body. He's a very patient and relaxed fighter.

Khan on the other hand, just goes out there and throws mindless one-twos, over and over again, run around, pitty patt flurries, and is clueless on infighting and defense.

I think its fair to say that Rios is more skillful than Khan. Khan is more athletic and more gifted. But in terms of boxing technique and skill, Rios has more than Khan.

Khan isn't more "gifted" than Rios. He's FASTER, that's it.

Power, and chin are gifts. Rios has both. Khan has neither.

Excellent stamina is also a gift. Rios has it (because he's naturally able to stay calm) whereas Khan doesn't.

So no, Khan isn't more gifted than Rios. He simply has more speed.

    Alright you got me there.

I would argue that Khan probably could be a decent puncher if he actually COMMITTED to his punches, but he doesn't. He throws and he's so concerned about the incoming that he's basically pulling his punches at times and running away.

I actually don't think Khan's stamina is really that bad. Its more his defense and lack of infighting skills. He didn't really fade against Maidana. He was just constantly getting caught with wild shots and his chin almost let him down again. He wasn't even tired against Lamont Peterson. He just had no clue what to do in the face of Peterson's pressure and infighting and only survived because Peterson is not a big puncher.

Certainly his stamina and power are not as good as Rios. No denying that. But I do think he has some natural talent. Just no clue on how to utilize them.
