I wasn't around this weekend, but these are the numbers: Paranormal Activity 4 had the most disappointing debut of all previous franchise sequels with $30.2 million, still enough to claim the top spot as expected. Apparently audiences are starting to get tired of this franchise (the last one last year debuted with like $52 million and the previous one to that with over $40 million). Argo is holding well in the same spot as last week with $16.6 million. Ben Affleck's political thriller will continue holding well until it faces fierce competition in November when Skyfall opens. Hotel Transylvania continues doing sweet business. The Sony animated family flick moved up in the chart from #4 to #3 this weekend at the tune of $13.5 million for a total of $106 million and counting. Take that, Frankenweenie!(only $28.3 million total so far) Moving down to the #4 spot from last week's number 1 spot, Taken 2 added $13.4 million to its bank account total so far of $105.9 million. The sequel will most likely match the numbers of its predecesor and Liam Neeson can ask for millions more in salary for Taken 3. Good for him! He deserves it. Debuting with a disappointing $11.7 million in the fifth spot, Alex Cross proved that except for Madea, Tyler Perry is no bankable star. Even in the lead of a solid franchise he could deliver. The audience was 60% female, 68% over age 35 and 74% african american. So it is safe to say that it was Perry's fans the ones who watched this film and that fans of the Alex Cross books & films (Kiss The Girls, Along Came A Spider) just stayed away from this one. As for the rest of the top ten films in the chart...who cares?

Starting to get tired of this franchise? Hell, why didn't people give up on it after the first movie when they found it out none of it was actually true?

    I saw it.

It was really only scary towards the end. For the most part the movie had a really slow build to it and you could almost anticipate what were the fake scares and stuff.

I thought PA 3 was much scarier as well as the PA 1 and PA 2.

These movies are only good see in the theaters with a bunch of people scared. I enjoyed them all but if i was at home, i would hate them. this last one had a really slow build up. Didnt have as any scary moments. The ending was pretty good tho.

Tyler Perry looked comically out of place in the trailers for that action flick he's in.

A casting agent will be getting fired after this.

The guy found a very profitable niche for himself, making bad movies with low critical expectations, while exploiting a certain demographic, eager to find anything in the theater to connect with.

The film-makers thought they could use this to their advantage and cross him over to a different genre, and create another franchise with it.

Unfortunately for them, It's a genre that doesn't need filling, and already has it's share of capable (and incapable) actors and film-makers filling the void.

I read they also passed over Idris Elba for this role to give it to Tyler Perry...........Idiots!

Too bad to. Looks like Matthew Fox went all Christian Bale, method actory for the villain part, and he's gotten great reviews for the only good part in a shitty movie. He looks creepy as shit in the stills and clips I've seen, doesn't look anything like Fox (or Jack if you prefer) at all.

Perry has always been hated by Critics. But the regular folk that saw it, liked this movie.

Why people keep watching the sequels is beyond me. The first one is on my top ten list of worst movies ever made. I have not bothered to watch any of the sequels.

    Have you seen it Anthony?

    Are YOU "regular folk"?

I hate to judge a book by it's cover........but this really looks like it sucks, and Tyler Perry looks like he'd be more comfortable cuddled up in some corner with Hurley from "Lost", snacking on Cheetoe's, writing "Boondocks" fan fiction, and arguing about the societal consequences of having so many cross-dressing African-American big Momma's, in American Cinema................then he does wielding a shotgun and solving serial murder cases, CSI "Man On Fire" style.

No shit. Funny thing was the first time I saw the trailer I didn't even realize it was Tyler Perry, but even still I was wondering who was this guy and was Denzel unavailable. After seeing the trailer again later and realizing it was Perry, my opinion hadn't changed much.

By the way I predict that Skyfall will disappoint at the box office.

Booooo! I think you should wait in line and pay $15 for the IMAX 3D version, while stuffing your face with a $14 bin of popcorn and sipping on a 187 ounce vat of Mountain Dew (free re-fills of course).................just like "regular folk", and report back to us with your review.

About Alex Cross it doesn't help that that it seems they give up the ENTIRE movie in the previews....however the the guy from LOST look like a bad/cool ass villain. Perry definetely look out of place anyone else Denzel, Cheadle, Terrence Howard, Jamie Foxx...ANYONE would have been better than Perry.

The first Paranormal was legitimately creepy.

2 & 3 were mediocre with a few scary parts here and there.

This one was PURE FUCKIN GARBAGE!
