    [IMG]Ask, and you shall receive.

After calling out former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem, former EliteXC title holder Antonio Silva has been granted his wish, and the two are now expected to meet at February's UFC 156 event.

The Las Vegas Review Journal first reported the planned matchup, which is contingent on Overeem receiving a license from the Nevada State Athletic Commission pending the conclusion of his current suspension.

Guess they wanted Overeem to have a tune up.

you would think so on paper. But I will guarantee Bigfoot trains his ass of for this fight, and Overeem doesn't. Bigfoot will make it ugly, get him to the ground and grind, mark my words. If Bigfoot can escape the first round, this is a fight.

After seeing Bigfoot get smashed by little Cormier and Cain, I don't have much faith in the guy. You never know though, Overeem has a glass chin and could get knocked out by any HW. I do agree that the fight favors Bigfoot the longer it goes though, Overeem gasses.

overeem does seem to have stamina issues. not sure about his chin. most of his tko losses were from ground and pound and that was 4 years ago or longer. if he's in his top form, i expect him to kick the shit outta that giant goof.

I completely agree with both of these points. But I also have zero faith in Overeem training especially for Bigfoot who he probably looks at as a less than worthy opponent.

Apparently someone heard all my complaints about Overeem getting an immediate title shot. Good. He has to at least win one fight to earn a shot.

In my opinion, all BigFoot has to do is get this fight into the 2nd round and it's over. Overeem ALWAYS had cardio issues at 205. And since moving to HW, I don't think he's been out of the first round other than the Werdum fight. But that was really only because Werdum kept flopping to the canvas. And even in that bout Overeem was tired in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Bigfoot needs to survive round one and I think it's a gimmee beyond that point.

For the record, Overeem chose to take this fight ahead of a title shot. He asked for another fight because he didn't want to wait until 2013 for a shot against JDS. Credit to him for not wanting a gift title shot. Dana had said he was guaranteed a title shot against JDS, Overeem said he wanted to fight as soon as possible so this fight was made.

This fight is a pick'em for me, both have the ability to end a fight quickly and both have questionable chins. Bigfoot likely has more endurance. Overeem has more tools to win, but he's been out a year now so I'm unsure on who to pick in this one.

Yeah, that would be true if Overeem was taking the Silva fight BECAUSE he didn't want an immediate title shot. He decided to fight Silva because he didn't want to risk being on the shelf for another 6-8 months waiting for the winner of JDS-Cain.

One thing that I find funny is that Silva actually made a comment about Overeem being "created in a lab".. Funny because I'm pretty sure Bighead Silva also got busted for steroids

That's what I said. I'm not sure what you took from my previous statement. Overeem would have been given the next title shot without having to fight anyone, but he would have to wait a few more months since JDS and Cain are about to fight so he chose to take another fight in between, he deserves credit for not sitting on a gift title shot. Condit basically just did that ever since beating Diaz, he's had opportunities to fight but chose to sit and wait. I'm not knocking Condit for his decision, but Overeem deserves deserves some credit for taking on a dangerous opponent and risk losing his title shot when he didn't have to.

Well, I just look at it ass backwards then. He deserves credit for nothing. He wouldn't have to take a 'dangerous' fight to stay active had he NOT been suspended for cheating. In fact, he wouldn't even have needed to wait for the winner of JDS-Cain.

And man, please don't compare Condit, who was waiting for the injured champion to Overeem, who was suspended for juicing. Condit earned his title shot and waited for GSP to get healthy. Overeem BLEW his title shot when he decided to cheat.

OK, I'm not even sure what you're debating anymore and who you're debating with.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to tell considering you said "he deserves credit" and I responded by saying "He deserves credit for nothing".

I can see where that would be confusing.
