You didn't answer the question. How many ATG heavies had 3 stoppage losses to inferior opponents?

Just looking at the numbers doesn't give a clear picture of a fighter's career. It's the quality of the fighters faced (in both wins and losses) that give us the true picture of a fighter's career. Using phrases like "__ amount of title fights & "undefeated __ years" while not discussing the quality of the fighters faced or the fighter's losses, gives a view intended to make a fighter's career seem better than it really was.

Those three losses, especially because of who they were against and that they were all stoppages, need to factored in when discussing Wlad's career.

It's funny to see some posters attempt to dismiss these losses as if they were a bad at-bat in the second game of a baseball doubleheader.

They also weren't these "green" losses they are always portrayed as... you could argue the Purrity one possibly... but not the other two

Furthermore, only one of them was avenged and it only took place after three years and the fighter (Brewster) had declined (he was already SHIT to begin with)

People thinking highly of Vitali I can understand simply because he has seldom ever looked vulnerable in a fight (the Lewis fight and the last couple nowadays, which is down to aging essentially) ... he basically takes whatever and beats the shit out of his (admittedly lousy) opponents... wald pussy panics anytime someone shows even a little aggressiveness and initiative

Didn't the last of them happen very soon after or just before he switched to Manny Steward?

This conversation's totally pointless until we define what 'all time great' means. Just sayin'.

Most posters on here feel the brothers have fought nothing but cans throughout their career and as such will not class them as great.

We all think everything was bigger and better as kid. The Klitscho's cant win.

Who's the best guy each has beat?

It's got fuck all to do with nostalgia

If that were the case, a guy my age would be a foaming-at-the-mouth Tyson fanatic

    perhaps

still, the Klits have presided over a godawful division. Horrendous. One of them (Vitali) has utterly bashed every opponent, so I DO consider him about as much an ATG as a guy can be with his best win coming against Corrie friggin Sanders

wald pussy on the other hand would get found out (and has been found out) by anyone decent who throws punches at him and comes forward... I will never agree that he is some great fighter... he's a punch away from falling apart at any moment

If they fought each other, Vitali would kick his ass all over the place

I would have a similar opinion on the brothers. The problem is that they were never really tested, thats makes it pretty difficult to prove themselves.

People hate their style but they are effective. Vitali IMO is a solid HW

Thing is, though, wald has been tested and failed

I think Vitali is as close to great as you can be without having any good opponents to prove it

agREED. Wlad has failed miserably when faced with adversity...which, to me, is one of those measuring sticks of a great fighter.

And...these losses do matter. Imagine if Ali had losses to Scrap Iron Johnson, Mac Foster and George Chuvalo during the 60's & very early 70's?? Or Frazier and Foreman had those same losses?

Even though Vitali's opposition is mostly crap, he doesn't have the same sort of embarrassing losses that Wlad has. He was winning the Byrd fight before getting injured and he gave a good account of himself against an older Lewis. Wlad's losses are entirely different and much more hurtful to his all time standing. Vitali looks like a fighter who would be a factor in any boxing decade, but it's hard to know for certain because his opposition has mostly been mediocre at best. Wlad, on the other hand, has those embarrassing losses and chin/stamina issues that Vitali seems to lack.

I would have much less of a problem considering Vitali in an ATG discussion than I would Wlad. I don't get this notion that they have to be considered together as if they were two parts of the same fighter.
