I am so fucking jacked for this card. I honestly think its the most loaded free card I have ever seen. I would have been happy with a free card of just the prelims on FX. The main card is off the hook. If you say otherwise, I hate you. Main Card on Fox Diaz vs Henderson (LW Championship) Rua vs Gustafsson Penn vs McDonald Prelims on FX Swick vs Brown Schaub vs Johnson Chiesa vs Levessuer Assunco vs Easton Sivers vs Phan Nijem vs Proctor Edwards vs Stephens
I made the same thread yesterday with a video of BJ Penn at a ripped 175 pounds. Someone deleted my thread. As I result I will never, ever, ever post on this site again. And I hate Anthony because I'm pretty sure he's the one that deleted it. He's always had issues with me, and now I am openly challenging him to a dance-off. Yes, that will show him.
yea i'm going w/ henderson too. his stand up's good enough to keep diaz at bay and he shouldnt have any trouble taking diaz down and keeping him there.
I will take Diaz, just to be different. My boy Mike Chiesa is out, hurt himself in training. Sucks, he was in outstanding shape and had an awesome training camp.
Yeah, Levassuer has world class wrestling. It would have really tested Mike. I was looking forward to it as well.
That double leg takedown usually sets up your neck perfectly for a guillotine. And what is the one move Mckenzie has that is just crazy? The Guillotine Choke :giggle: Levessuer, fell right into that trap
yea mckenzie is known for his guillotine, but levessuer was like division 3's cael sanderson. what a disappointment he's been as an mma fighter. the thing is that he seems to have great talent in terms of explosiveness and handspeed. just doesn't seem to know how to put it all together.
I wouldn't write BJ Penn off just yet. He has obviously gotten himself into great shape. But to me, more important is the fact that he's been working with some solid training partners as opposed to his normal band of Hawaiian fighters. He's been working with some absolutely excellent MMA wrestlers like Jay Hieron, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley and Josh Thompson. Penn already has some of the best takedown defense in MMA. And he showed in the Fitch fight that he can also take down an elite wrestler. Based on the guys he's working with for the MacDonald fight, he should be in top form. And nothing improves grappling cardio like rolling around with top notch wrestlers. I think Rory is going to get picked apart by a better striker and have a seriously tough time getting Penn to the mat. On top of that, let's not forget that Rory's cardio cost him against Carlos Condit. It's not like MacDonald is a cardio machine. Don't close the book on Penn just yet.
I think if Diaz can keep this standing he wins. Don't get me wrong, Diaz has great ground game, but I just see Henderson winning by lay n pray if he gets takedowns.
Wow, the fact that the majority on here are picking Diaz, I might be pursuaded to change my pick. Personally I am a big fan of Nate Diaz, but Henderson's wrestling is extremely underrated. Unless Nate's takedown defense has improved, he might have to win off his back. To me, that is always a big gamble. Right now I am leaning toward Hendo via UD based on takedowns and top control. Then again, if Hendo is stand-up crazy and forgets his wrestling like he did against Pettis, then Nate becomes the new UFC Lightweight Champion by way of a ridiculous and painful boxing beatdown. The bottom line it that this is a great card and should be fun.
Saturday Will Be a Great Night of FIGHTS, Period....Fox Televised UFC Event + Pac-Marquez IV????....It's Gonna Be a GREAT Sports Bar Night for REED.... REED:hammert:
henderson's stand up game is good enough and he's superior on the ground as well. i doubt he will fight dumb like cerrone get peppered with pitty pats all night.
