I have to say that these cards over the last two days produced far better fights than the highly anticipate FOX card last weekend. Mitrione wasn't even close to being ready for Roy Nelson. When you think about it, Mitrione didn't really have anyway to beat Nelson. He wasn't going to knock him out or submit. And it was highly doubtful he would out-grapple Big Country. Also, how did Jonathan Brookins win TUF. He has the most unskilled stand-up I've ever seen from a UFC fighter. He fights with his hands low and his chin straight up in the air. He won't be in the UFC beyond whatever his contract length is. And what about that Russian dude with the 3 belly-to-back suplexes against Vinc Pichel. I honestly think we need to remember the name, Rustam Khabilov. He will make some noise if he can stay at 155. He's huge for the weight class. But the highlight of the weekend, for me, was Pat Barry starching Shane Del Rosario. Barry will never be a top ranked HW but I love his style. He has a questionable chin but never ever hesitates to throw bombs which exposes that chin. Great KO.
Brookins is so disappointing, because he is a stupid. His skill is in his ground game. Why does he stand? WHY TRP?????? Can you tell me?? WhY????????
It really makes no sense. I think he's like alot of guys that starts working with a good boxing coach and does better in the gym and then start thinking their boxers. He showed a great judo hip throw on TUF and even used it against Jose Aldo prior to being on TUF. I don't know that I've seen it since.
That's exactly what I see out of Brookins, he like has to try out his new toy. He has other toys that are way cooler, but plays with the new toy, well because its new. He should have had that dude out. He rung his bell, he should have immediately took him to the ground and subbed him out. What was hilarious is listening to Joe Rogan try to tell us all how GOOD Brookins stand up is now. That Russian was sick. I would love to see him fight again soon. Mitrione got thrown to the wolves. He should have been fighting Del Rosario, Pat Barry has the fire power that would have made a Nelson fight interesting. Horrible matchmaking. The Ranger that won the TUF will be a pure lay and pray guy.
I love Pat Barry. I don't care if he loses every fight, he's always in great fights. The russian dude with the suplexes was awesome as well. Roy Nelson is overrated as fuck.
Is he really overrated? I don't know many that think Roy is all that. Seriously. He's durable as fuck. I say put him in a fight with Barry. When Carwin can fight again, make that fight. I'd have Del Rosario and Mitrione fight next.
It is ugly. He just has power in the right and a great chin. So you get Rogan telling us all how great his striking is. When he faced JDS, his striking was made to look like it was. Amateurish. (is that a word?) I actually think a fight with Barry makes sense with Roy.
But according to Roy he has learned alot since his JDS fight. And all that being said, JDS was catching some good shots from Roy and never KOed roy.
Do you think he has? I really don't see it. I'm with Z, he's a brawler. He's talking about combos, it was like haymaker combos. And it was against Mitrione.
