It's interesting that so many fighters do this: announce that they're going to have 3,4 even 5 more fights. There must be some strategic or tactical advantage in doing so, when it comes to negotiations, fan expectations or even TV/Cable contracts. I wouldn't know what it is, but given how often we hear it, my guess is there's something to it.
Martinez.....not my favourite 160lb champ of all times. Who are these 3 fights gonna be against??? I think Gayweather at 154 is going to be one of them.
Murray is next in April, so hopefully we see him face Golovkin and a rematch with Chavez jr may be likely for late 2013. Can't think of anyone else. I doubt very much he'll face Floyd.
It's the Same Train of Thought as the "Going Out of Business Sale", Doub...."We're CLOSING Sooooon, Better BUY while You Can!!!".... REED:mj:
Yeah. That seems like a likely explanation. He may be in the midst of negotiations with Chavez Jr., for example, and need to send the message that if he intends on avenging his defeat, he'll need to do so sooner than later. And more importantly, that that means accepting some terms that Chavez Jr.'s management probably isn't used to.
Even though I think Floyd beats him, I don't see him taking the risk of facing Martinez. That would be so unlike Mayweather.
I think Mayweather, if he did take the fight (which he won't), would have major problems with Martinez and I'd predict he would lose. Besides Martinez's height and speed, I think Mayweather's inability to hurt Martinez would be a key advantage for him.
