    Lists time!

Name your Best Movies of the Year, the Worst ones and Most Disappointing films of 2012.

As usual lists are based on biased opinions so there is no right or wrong. We can play Siskel & Ebert and never agree.

    My picks:
    Best Movie of The Year

Django Unchained Quentin Tarantino returned to top form in this homage to spagetti westerns with a twist. Christoph Waltz has my vote as best supporting actor of the year.

    Runner ups:
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey great entry to the new Tolkien trilogy by Peter Jackson. Can't wait for the next one.
Marvel's The Avengers mindless popcorn fun that defined once again what a summer movie should be.
The Raid: Redemption excellent action film that few people watched at theaters.
Big Miracle a very nice family film based on a true story. Inspiring and PETA approved LOL

    Worst Movie of The Year

Mirror Mirror a total waste of time. Avoid it like bubonic plague

    Runner ups:
Wrath of the Titans the previous one was so-so; this one was plain bad.
Battleship we should have known better when we heard it based on the board game...the board game is more fun.

Most Disappointing Movie of the Year

Prometheus Gosh! I was soo hyped about this one and when I finally watched it...I wish I hadn't. Is just a movie that didn't delivered on its potential to be truly great.

    Runner ups:

The Dark Knight Rises a good movie, but not memorable at all. Nolanites hyped it like it was the Second Coming, but it turned out to be merely okay.
The Amazing Spiderman the weakest of all Spiderman films franchise. Spiderman 3 has more rewatch value than this one.
The Dictator best jokes are in the trailer...the rest of the film tries and fails to get any funnier.
Dark Shadows It was okay, but it could have been so much better if...EVERYTHING was done differently than Burton did.
Paranorman whoever made the decision to turn this truly creepy story into a children's movie deserves all the credit for the box office flop it turned out to be. Thank goodness Hotel Transylvania delivered were this one failed.

TDKR is the best movie of the year, followed up by Prometheus. Havent seen Django yet, so who knows.

And your most disapointing film was...? Don't tell me: Marvel's The Avengers.

I still haven't seen "Lincoln", "Argo", "Zero Dark Thirty" & 'Silver Linings Playlist'. So when I watch all those films maybe my choice for Best Movie will change.

My best movies of the year are:

The Grey- When I first saw it I thought it was alright but nothing special, but after watching it twice I think this is a great film, with good action and drama and it is also surprisingly 'deep' and philosophical.

The Hunt- Danish film from the director who did Festen, it's about a small tow kindergarten teacher who gets falsely accused of child molestation. Great movie with a great performance by my man Mads Mikkelsen.

The Dark Knight Rises- Perrhaps not as great as some were expecting and some parts of it are annoying and out of place but it was still THE movie event of the year and I think it delivered.

    Worst:

No idea really, I tried watching Savages but turned it off after 10 minutes when he stupid blonde girl says " I was having orgasms, he was having wargasms".

    Most dissapointing:

I thought Prometheus was etertaining but not as good as I had hopes for, and I have never even seen the Alien movies. I also wanted to see Savages because it has a good dirctor and some good actors like BDelT but I couldn't get past the cheesy beginning.

    I liked Avengers.

Cloud Atlas was the most disappointing.

I haven't seen Cloud Atlas yet, but I know that is always mentioned by critics, along with Prometheus, as one of the most disappointing films of the year.

It is not being questioned if the movie got good reviews (it is a good film), but that it was a huge disappointment. The film project started as a prequel to Alien with Ridley Scott FINALLY coming back to his roots and that franchise. Everybody was hyped. Then they were hinting about how profound and innovative this film was going to be. We got even more excited. But then we began to hear that it wasn't longer a prequel, but using the Alien mythology to present something unique. We scratched our heads, but our enthusiasm was still there. Then that awesome trailer came out...CAN'T WAIT!!! Then the film comes out and it turned out is just this average 'thing' that pretends to be more clever than it really is. The film got a 73% Rotten Tomatoes with average critics ratings of 6.9/10. Heck those are the same numbers for "The Amazing Spiderman"! Compare that to the 'dumber' "Marvel's The Avengers': 92% Tomatometer with average rating of 8/10. We were expecting something great, something as unique as "Blade Runner" or "Alien". Instead we got something like "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" a good scifi film, from an experienced master in the genre, that fell short of expectations even if it tried hard to be more clever than it really was.

I thought the movie was brilliant. I feel bad for those that dont get it.

The girl had some good points, but just she missed the big picture. Scott did have one theme. it was self Sacrifice. That was the point of the movie. She seems to have missed that point completely.

You've really turned into a great movie critic Panch. Me and you should do our own tv show Siskel & Ebert style. Only problem is we might tend to agree with each other too much.

When it comes to your lists I haven't seen any from your favorites list, Mirror Mirror, Dark Shadows or Paranorman. I think my favorite film of 2012 is Moneyball. I agree with pretty much everything else you wrote except for The Dictator being disappointing. It actually turned out a lot better and funnier than I expected. When it comes to worst movie, you and I agree completely on the Wrath of the Titans film even if it was just a runner up for you. First time I ever actually booed at the end of a film. And although I actually walked out of Tree of Life, I won't consider that the worst film because it simply wasn't what I expected it to be and turned out to be a different type of film than I thought. Other than that great job.

Oh, we can agree on agreeing or agree on disagreeing, no problem. :cheers:I forgot about "Tree of Life"; I didn't had any kind of expectations about it, but since it was hyped by some people I got curious and tried to watch it and fell asleep. So to me it doesn't count since I couldn't finish watching it and honestly can't say much except "boring". My problem with "The Dictator" is that unlike "Borat" or "Bruno" I really was looking forward to have a great time with this film since the trailer was so funny. But since the best jokes were the ones in the trailer which were from the film's prologue and rest of the film was just your 'fish-out-of-water', 'mistaken-identity' formula and it wasn't so good at that. It was okay, but a letdown.
