A venue or date has not yet been 100% confirmed, but it's going ahead. London's O2 arena is the likely venue and May 25th is the likely date. http://www.espn.co.uk/boxing/sport/story/188377.html
Got to get me a ringside ticket for this. I'll pay the extra amount due to the enormity of this event.
I'll still be rooting for Kessler, but I actually favor Froch this time. He's still the same fighter he was since their first fight, whereas Mikkel IMO has probably slipped since then. Still doesn't change the fact that even in their first fight Kessler was on the decline and still beat Froch. The circa 07 Kessler would have beaten the shit outta Froch.
Kessler had just had his ass whipped a few months before he fought and beat frunt. He'll be more confident and win wider this go round
And Kessler has clearly declined as a fighter. He's been very inactive. I like Froch is stop him this time.
Based on his two recent early KOs vs world ranked opponents? I agree, he should probably just retire before he ends up getting hurt.
I like Kessler but it can be frustrating to watch him fight. Like Pavlik, he has trouble finding the right range on his punches. He consistently over-shoots with his punches. That was what always impressed me about Tito (even if he did load his gloves). He was always good at finding his target, whether he was close, mid-distance or on the outside. And he knew how to alter his technique to suit his distance. Pavlik, for example, just isn't very good at this. Neither is Kessler. And as we saw, this was a key factor in Kessler's loss to Ward. Ward, because of Kessler's being clueless about distance, was able to neutralize his offense every time simply by staying close.
yeah, but he's Joe Calzone's number two Jazzercist scalp (behind 76 year old Bernard Hopkins) therefore he is a legend
Yeah, Tito SURE DID display that against Hopkins and Hoya........... Anyway, Kessler isn't a perfect fighter, but he's far more versatile and skilled than Pavlik. Has a much higher ring IQ than Pavlik does as well.
Good examples of Tito's ability to measure distance and adjust his offense accordingly are: Vargas, Joppy and Whitaker For the fights you mentioned, in which the opponent moved a lot and avoided exchanges, the fact he seemed lost doesn't invalidate my point at all. It simply illustrates that even a guy good at measuring distance can be susceptible to his opponent's good foot-work and defense.
I was partially fuckin around with you. I do agree. Many of Tito's talents are underrated nowadays. Was he one dimensional? Yes. But it was a helluva dimensional he had. P4P Tito was just a far more gifted fighter than either Kess or Pavlik.
Froch has Fought (& BEATEN) Better Fighters & the 1st Bout was CLOSE...No Reason NOT to Pick Froch in the RE... REED:num:
Yeah no reason, except for Kessler actually beat Froch when they fought. Sure it was kind of close, but Kessler still clearly won.
