Ward and it's not even close. Only people who votes for Joe are jingoist welsh/english or contrarians.
Calzaghe would have beaten him in a close, boring, ugly fight if that is the question being asked. Neither has a great resume though Ward has time to improve his, obviously. I'd like to see Ward fight outside of the US in the same way that Calzaghe is (rightly) criticised for not fighting outside the UK for almost all of his career. Calzaghe wasted most of his career fighting Werren bums which means we don't know for sure how good he is. Ward's best wins are a guy that Calzaghe beat handily (with fighting rather than headbutts) and a guy who lost to the guy who represents both Ward and Calzaghe's best win. MTF :dunno:
calzaghe would have figured him out in a few rounds and decisioned him. i dont see what threat ward poses him apart from the headbutts. he's not faster and he proved in the froch fight that he fades when the pace is pushed at him. calzaghe would have overwhelmed him like he did kessler
Well, he threw a lot of headbutt, which had something to do with it. But Calzaghe beat Kessler going away and IMO more impressively because he had to change completely mid-fight when his plan-A clearly wasn't working. We haven't seen anything like that from Ward yet, though admittedly he hasn't needed to. I know I'm wasting my time trying to say good things about Calzaghe to you but he was a very adaptable fighter. The Kessler fight showed that. MTF
I don't see what Ward can do to beat Joe. He doesn't have great power, isn't any faster and he really did fade late against Froch who won rounds in a fight he should have been buried in. That doesn't bode well against a guy who throws countless punches/slaps until the last bell. MTF
Right now i'll go with Calzaghe but his career is over. Ward is still young and I don't have much doubt he'll eclipse Joe. In a head to head? I'd have to think about it more.
Who should Ward leave the US to fight exactly? The complaint wasn't that Calzaghe wouldn't leave the UK, it was who he was fighting there. Ward has been fighting the best guys available.
He has fought the best two opponents available, I agree. To improve his legacy, it would benefit it to perhaps fight these guys away from home as well? MTF :dunno:
On the fact that head to head I'd pick Calzaghe to win without a doubt, as his ability to adapt in the ring was spectacular
Agreed. He would have convincingly beaten the Calzaghe that struggled with Hopkins and beat Jones. But prime Calzaghe vs Ward is a very close fight. Could go either way.
What's the difference exactly? ^ Same slapping faggotry, just better opponents to make him look "less prime" When a corpse is one of your 4 best wins, you've got an indefensible resume
Argue against it. I dares ya. Which period was he better in than when he beat Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins?
