After beating Ruiz, I really don't see what's your gripe on RJ not facing Jirov. Let's face it, Ruiz wasn't much, but he presented a MUCH bigger threat than Jirov. Jirov was a slow, face first, volume puncher w/o a huge punch, a TERRIBLE defense, and not the best chin. Roy's son (Toney) beat the fuck outta him.

I don't see how Jirov could have given Roy any kind of test.

As far as Euro's go, DM was a much better fighter than Jirov.

In any case, to answer the question, had Mike not gone to jail it woulda been awesome to see Tyson-Bowe.

    So many for RJJ:

DM, Jirov, Nunn, Benn, Eubanks, McClellan, Calzaghe

X, I'd hardly say Toney beat the fck out of Jirov. He beat him. But it's not like it wasn't a close fight. Also, what does Ruiz have to do with anything? People wanted to see RJJ/Jirov well before RJJ took on Ruiz. And Jirov would've been a much bigger challenge than Ruiz.

Does anyone else think Nunn/RJJ would've been an intriguing fight? Especially in retrospect? Having seen what Tarver was able to do to RJJ?

Stylistically, how exactly would Jirov be a threat to Roy? Jirov was slow as sin, didn't have big time power, was an impossible target to MISS, and could be hurt. Jones would have pot shotted the living Jesus outta him, and likely forced a stoppage. And afterwards, gotten no credit.

He most definitely did NOT pose a bigger threat to Jones than Ruiz.

And a prime Nunn would pose a HUGE threat to Roy. However, by time Roy hit his prime, Nunn was well past his.

Name one fighter with a style like Jirov's that RJJ beat? Let alone easily? And don't say Richard Hall.

It would have looked like a 190 pound version of Jones-Hall.

You never watched Jirov fight? The guy had a unique style. He was fairly tall and left handed, but liked to be close, had a vicious body attack, threw tons of punches. But unlike Hall or Gonazlez, he'd been a decorated amateur and had solid fundamentals.

I'm not saying Jirov would've beaten him. But to conclude the fight would've turned out like the Hall fight? That's ridiculous. It was thinking like this that allowed RJJ to get away with not making fights like the Jirov fight.

I wouldn't go as far as 'unique'. He was a pressure fighter. You see less southpaws than orthodox fighters with that approach but he didn't really do anything that differently than most volume punchers.

He was unique. Like you said, he was a left-handed pressure fighter. That alone made him unique. But that wasn't all. He was also a left-handed fighter obsessed with going to the body. That too is unique because it involved his throwing a lot of straight left hands to the body (devastating) - something you don't see much of unless you're watching Guerrero fight. But as I said, he was also very fundamentally sound, and could box from the outside, so he was versatile too. And despite what X says, he was also durable both in body and spirit, which means, as he showed against Toney, he was ready and willing to walk through fire when he needed to.

Again, I'm not declaring he would've beaten RJJ. But I do think he would've posed some new and interesting challenges for Roy and that had RJJ fought him, it would've been one more on the list of "hard" fights for RJJ.

Jirov was not particularly good. Game and aggressive, but nothing special at all

There's no logical argument that could be made for him against Jones
