Brook's IBF World title fight put on hold

Kell Brook's challenge for the IBF World welterweight title against American title holder Devon Alexander is to be put on hold after it is is reported that Brook rolled his ankle when out running.

The injury is said to not be serious.

The fight, which was due to take place on January 19th 2013, is now due to take place possibly 3-4 weeks after that date.

Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn, posted on the social media network site Twitter today with this to say:

"Just to let you know we have asked for @SpecialKBrook fight to be put back 3-4 weeks due to an injury. I wanted to flag this up now rather than run the risk of a late pull out and let everyone book non-refundable flights etc. Will provide further news shortly."

Hearn also spoke with sky sports:

"Kell sustained an ankle injury that has hampered his training and running work over the last few days,"

"I'm concerned mainly for the travelling UK fans and it's in no-one's interest for the fight to fall through closer to the time, so last night I requested a three to four week delay to the original date of January 19,"

"This will eradicate the risk and ensure Kell will be 100 per cent for the biggest fight of his life."

More stalling :shit: This cunt seems to have been 'on the verge of a world title shot' for about four years. I wish he would hurry up and lose so we can be rid of him.

I heard it's not an ankle injury that's the cause, it's something to do with his anus.

Alexander has suffered a biceps injury. IBF title defense against Brook is now off.

They probably couldn't sell enough tickets. Not even with Camacho Jr. and Salita on the undercard.

Alexander is a dumbass if he pulled out of this fight so mayweather jr could use him to leverage Guerrero into taking a smaller purse.

I just said this in the other thread. I agree this is exactly what he's doing.

The IBF will not approve of Mayweather-Alexander. He will be stripped if he chooses to fight Floyd. They are waiting to hear from Devon's camp.

Alexander may have been looking for an excuse to pull out - such that even the remote chance at a shot at Mayweather was enough for him to pull out. These managers and promoters are all crooked. Who knows what the reason. The more likely explanation is that not enough tickets sold. Once PBF got wind of this, he decided to take advantage.
