After nine months out of action, Timothy 'Desert Storm' Bradley will finally return to the ring at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, USA. He aims to not only defend his WBO welterweight title against Rusian Provodnikov, but to also reignite his career. Bradley, 29(12)-0-0, has not been able to do much about his inactivity over the months. The former WBC and WBO light-welterweight titlist suffered injuries to both of his feet during his controversial split decision points win over Manny Pacquiao last June. I say 'controversial' because many observers who witnessed the fight believed Pacquiao should have been awarded the decision. Nonetheless, the 29-year-old captured the WBO welterweight title with that win. Provodnikov, 22(15)-1-0, is currently ranked #3 in the WBO welterweight rankings and is moving up in weight as he prepares to challenge for his first major title. He is the reigning WBO Inter-Continental light-welterweight champion and has won his last five bouts with four of those wins coming inside the distance. He has also not lost in two years. Provodnikov's only defeat of his career was against Mauricio Herrera in January, 2011. The Russian has only had only three 12-round contests in his career to date compared to Bradley's nine, and of course, he has not had the experience on the World stage like Bradley has. Provodnikov, though, has beaten a former WBO light-welterweight champion. He defeated DeMarcus Corley for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council light-welterweight title in December 2011. Provodnikov currently trains at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood with Freddie Roach and Roach will in fact be in his corner on fight night for the first time. Predictions, fellas?
this is his last fight, bhoy <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/kLkq9-wIFKs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
probably a bit too open an slow to beat Bradley, but I think he'll be competetive... Bradley by decision I cannae root fur heem, ye ken? His naeme looks loch it is Russian for "Protestant", ye ken?
Provonikov's Very STRONG...Pretty Good Jr Welter BANGER w/Either Hand (But it's TELEGRAPHED Power), Usually Gets the BETTER of Clinches & Infighting...Marks Up Rather Easy, but is a TOUGH Guy, Nonetheless....If Bradley STOPS Provodnikov, that'd Be Impressive... Bradley Can Make this a Relatively EASY Fight by Utilizing Mobility...We'll See if the Layoff Affects him...An Upset is ALWAYS Possible, but REED would Rate Provodnikov's Chances No Higher than 30%... Bradley UD.... REED:hammert:
I'm rooting for Provo, as I can't stand the gift horse Bradley, but he has basically no chance. I can't even really give him a puncher's chance because sadly, Timmy has a solid chin. Provo's just far too slow and one dimensional to compete with Braddles.
I'm thinking most likely a 9-3, 8-4 type of victory for Braddles... Protestantinov will press and may shade some rounds with aggression and all of that jive, but ultimatley Braddles is more talented and skillful and will win his particular rounds much more clearly
Bradley was a 140lber not long ago, he also doesn't deserve to be called the Champ since he clearly lost to Pac.
that doesn't matter (that bradley was a 140 pounder not long ago). if he's the champion at 147, he should have to defend it against contenders at 147. this guy hasn't even competed at 147. how the hell does he deserve a shot at the title? maybe he deserved a shot at the 140 pound title, but not the 147 title. if bradley's gonna defend his belt, shouldn't it be against contenders in the division in which he's champion?
indeed, it's completely ridiculous. Worst of all it it gives us a meaningless and ( probably ) boring fight at 147 instead of potential action fights at 140 ( 140 is stacked with action fighter and Provodnikov seems to be one himself and he would make good fights with the like of peterson or Mathysse ) Completely shitty and unintersting fight, and there's not even a undercard afaik. HBO hasn't picked it up a bit since Greenburg left ( was fired ) and that's a shame.
Yeah, I get it on Boxnation. Andy Ruiz Jr. BIG lad, but he's pretty handy and quick handed. I like him.
Well Bradley sure as hell lose any moment he had from that Pacquiao gift....there is NOTHING at 147, unless Broner actually moves up and looks good there...then they can fight. or Rios, Matthyse move up...
I was wondering if Bradley was the fighter who made the less out of a huge win ?? For the life of me I can't think of anyone who comes even close. Thruman could be a good fight for Bradley in a year or two.
Do you know anything about the Autstralian guy he's fighting ?? He has an interesting record with a high ko ratio but vs a whole lof of nobodies and a shot Augustus
As usual, HBO fights on two hour delay here. Hopefully Braddles makes for some entertainment tonight. Enjoy the fights.
I have a feeling Vargas is going to get beat here... he's quicker and more skillful, but this "Lucky Boy" moves him every time he touches him
