I know this is highly unlikely, but what would it mean to the sport of MMA if this happened?

It Means Jon Jones had his Arms & Legs BLOWN OFF During the Boston Marathon Explosion, Because that's THE ONLY Way Sonnen Beats Jones...

Sonnen's Strength (Wrestling) is Jones' Strength...Sonnen RARELY if Ever had a Punchers Chance @ 185, so he Damn Sure WON'T Have 1 @ 205...No Way he Wins this Fight...

Yeah it's kind of funny that people forget that Jones comes from a wrestling background.

That toe was gross. Jones is lucky he finished Sonnen by the end of the round or he would have lost just cause of that damn toe.

Was it as nasty as David Haye's toe? I find this unlikely.

Even KNOWING Jones' Wrestling Background, it was SHOCKING to See just How EASILY He OUTwrestled Sonnen...

Jones is in RARIFIED Air where he Can CHOOSE How to Beat Guys...REED Loooooves the Competitive Arrogance it Takes to Even THINK Along those Lines, Nevermind the TALENT that's Warranted to Pull it Off...Jones DOMINATED Chael Sonnen @ the ONE Thing Sonnen's Great @...

Makes you Wonder if Jones Would Stand & STRIKE w/Anderson Silva, if that Superfight Ever Comes to Fruition...

Sonnen damn near got the one in a million freak accident he needed to "beat" Jones. Sonnen got smashed though.

Anderson apparently called Dana about a Jones fight.

Im guessing my last post was deleted during downtime but I'd only give Anderson a 25 percent shot.

He can win standing or on the ground. Jones isn't a bum on the feet though...hes arguably one of the most creative strikers in MMA.

I don't see how Silva wins to be honest, as even if he starts getting the better of Jones standing, Jones could easily just decide to wrestle the shit out of Silva and win a clear decision.

Silva isn't beating Jones. Jones will throw him down where ever he feels like it and smash his face with elbows.

As talented as Jones is, he still makes very basic mistakes and has tons of flaws on the ground.

Nearly getting his arm broken by a guy like Vitor Belfort who doesn't really even have a dangerous guard wasn't a fluke. Jones has been leaving his arm on the mat which is like a white belt mistake since the Brandon Vera fight and still does it. He's also a pretty darn poor guard passer for someone who is as good as a grappler as he is and guys have shown that they can scramble from underneath him if necessary. Bonnar did it repeatedly, Sonnen did it multiple times, Bader did it and Lyoto as well.

He's not stopping Silva with elbows from guard either, so he's going to have to go the full 25 without getting caught in a triangle or armbar or getting caught with a big shot in the clinch or standing.

I think he can do it and should be able to but it's not something unthinkable to imagine him losing, he's not exactly flawless.

I think silva would clearly be the better striker, but jones wrasslin should be too good.

You MIGHT Be Right, but Silva-Sonnen I Certainly Lends Credence to the Belief that Jones COULD Do Just that...Sonnen Took & KEPT Silva to the Ground @ Will...Jones is STRONGER than Sonnen & ALOT More Creative on the Ground...

& Even Though we ALL Know Jones is Looking for Elbows, he SETS THEM UP Very Well...Jones is VERY Busy from Top Position (BUSIER than Most) & is Good @ Occupying his Opponents Mind w/Other Shit, Before Dropping an Elbow on Him...It's NOT Like Bones Goes Elbow Crazy, the Moment he Gets a Guy to the Ground...He Sets them Up Well...

It Took Silva the BETTER Part of 25 Minutes to Find an Exploitable Opening on Sonnen...If Silva Spends the Better Part of 25 Minutes on his Back w/Jones, can he AVOID Elbows &/or Fight Ending G & P for that Stretch of Time???...

Silva's guard isn't exactly great, he's not subbing guys left and right off his back. Sonnen has been submitted like 11 times or something and it took Silva 20+ minutes on his back most of the time to get the triangle. The Belfort fight I think Jones just had zero respect for Vitor's ground game. Just the fact that Sonnen controlled Silva so easily and Jones threw Sonnen around like he was nothing makes me think it's going to be damn near impossible for Silva to beat him.

I see a Silva\Jones fight just like I see a Silva\GSP fight. When talent levels are similar, the bigger stronger fighter will win. Just like GSP has little chance of beating Silva, Silva has little chance of beating Jones.

I said this a while back, and it's totally true.

Sure Silva has looked good at 205, but he is a career middleweight. Jones is by far the bigger man, and to top it off, has obscene wrestling.

Neither fights interest me much, as in each case the bigger guy is going to be an overwhelming favourite largely due to being significantly bigger.

Completely agree. For me, it was a foregone conclusion that Sonnen wouldn't be able to take Jones down. However, I thought Jones would do it by using distance, speed and great take down defense.

Sonnen was nowhere near the most dangerous opponent Jones has faced. But the manner in which Jones beat Sonnen, by initiating the clinch and absolutely rag dolling Sonnen, might have made it the most impressive performance of Jon's career.

we have to put this in perspective. Demian Maia threw sonnen around like a rag doll, I think it was a foregone conclusion that jones would do the same

Youre kidding right? Have you ever watched the Sonnen-Maia fight? Maia had 3 or 4 take down attempts easily stuffed by Sonnen. And Maia actually spent the majority of the fight on his back controlled by Somnen. Maia got one trip throw and landed in mount and triangled Sonnen seconds later.

Comparing that to Jones pinning Sonnen against the cage, grabbing multiple double legs and slamming Chael is just a silly, silly comparison.

Sonnen has been submitted numerous times but I don't know that I've ever seen him rag dolled like Saturday night.

It's pretty funny that Jon Jones not only is a fight or two away from cleaning out the light heavyweight division but also the middleweight division!

I actually could see Jones stopping silva with Elbows from the ground. Sonnen was GNP'ing Silva all night long.

didn't say Maia did it as good as Jones, only that it wasn't surprising to see Jones, who's better, bigger and stronger than maia overpowering sonnen, since Sonnen was alredy overpwered by Maia in the clinch.

And I wouldn't say that Sonnen controlled Maia for the majority of the fight, since Maia was pulling guard for most of the time, and was happy to be on the bottom, not to mention that the fight lasted a big 2 minutes before Mais was able to threw him around like a rag doll and finishing him.

If Jones being stronger than sonnen on the clinched surprised you, fine, but for me (and most people who know mma) it wasn't much of a surprise at all

Maia never, ever, ever, overpowered Sonnen in the clinch.

And You need to work on your reading comprehension. I never said I was surprised that Jones was bigger and stronger. I said it was impressive that Jones initiated the clinching and chose to fight with that strategy.

And anyone and everyone that follows MMA understood that Sonnen's only chance of doing well in the fight was to take Jones down. It wasn't surprising at all to me that he ccouldn't take Jones down. Scroll back and check. I was clearly the one that said NO, Sonnen would not be able to.

That being said, me and everyone watching was impressed that Jones beat Sonnen at his own game. NO one has ever out-westled Sonnen in the UFC and certainly not Maia. Again, that is the most ridiculous assertion from you since you claimed it was "Overeem time!!!!!"
