MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer broke down some of the many possibilities for WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs), who won a twelve round unanimous decision over Robert Guerrero on Saturday night.
Some of the options include Amir Khan - if he moved up to welterweight and won a world title. Or the returning Victor Ortiz, who Mayweather knocked out in 2011 - or even current WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia, who is likely moving up to the welterweight division in the near future. And of course WBC/WBA 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez....

Mayweather-Khan would be the biggest mismatch to hit PPV in many years.

Garcia's the best fight of three... but also another guy who'd probably just get tagged with right hands for 12 easy rounds

People are stupid enough to buy and watch it. If people weren't so stupid, he would have to fight live opponents. What motivation does he have to fight live bodies when he gets paid gazillions to fight over-matched crap like ghost-face and Khant?

    MTF :dunno:

"Emmanuel Khant. He thinks in his mind"

I see your point. Floyd is just a very good bidness man.

Jamie McDonnell is fighting for the vacant IBF title this weekend.......on pay per view :scratcher:

What live bodies should he be fighting at Welterweight right now?

I could see a few years ago when he could have/should have fought Williams or Margarito... but right now? Who do we have? Pacquiao has suffered a brutal KO loss and his future is uncertain; he already clowned JMM and even with the new "weight training regimen" would you guys be in favor of a Floyd/JMM fight? Any of you particularly fond of Tim Bradley's chances?

    Who should he fight?

    Can't see Floyd-Alexander/Bradley being made.

JMM, Pacquiao and Bradley aren't even possibilities right now. Floyd's not fighting anyone who isn't Haymon/GBP

I want to see garcia brutally KO'ed, not taken the full 12 rounds. Khan is a joke. Ortiz is set to fight Guerrero next I read.

The Law. The Law will win and we will be shut of him!!!

No problem per se with the opponent, we all understand the madness, but the money is out of order.

The PPV's don't even need to sell anymore. Floyd has a six fight guarantee from Showtime... I can't imagine any of the fights will be for less than the guaranteed 32-million Floyd got for Guerrero. 32-million before his cut of the PPV.

    They're all pretty much gimmes

Out of that motley crew I'd like to see PBF V Khan. It would be interesting to see how Floyd deals with the speed of Khan at this stage of his career.

    No it wouldn't.

    Garcia is a better fight.

Maybe but its more likely Garcia eats right after right in a lob sided UD.

Khan is a terrible, terrible fighter... He's way less deserving of a shot at Mayweather than Garcia is

    I know that

That was what I was getting at... even if it were possible, would these guys be applauding it?

  21. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

of course, but that is hardly his fault... people are dumb enough to pay, he should take it...

I would pay Floyd £32m to see him fight Amir.

Gotta be Floyd vs King Khan

Disagree. Garcia is crap. If he gassed against Zab & Zab almost had him out on his feet, what is Floyd gonna do to him? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Floyd beat his ass but I don't think it'd be competitive for one second.

As shitty as Khan is in many respects, I think he gives Floyd more trouble than anyone else in that weight range. Khan's speed, length, and power will give him difficulty at this stage of his career. Though again, after 3-4 rounds I think Floyd would take him apart.

What I'd really like to see is Floyd-Canelo or Floyd-Martinez..

Canelo and Martinez are the only interesting fights for Floyd. Fuck all these small guys, Guerrero at least beat a couple guys at WW before being mentioned. Let these 140lbers move up and beat someone first.

Mayweather may as well fight all those three guys at the same time.

Canelo is the only one mentioned that I would watch. He will end up fighting someone who has no chance.
