I don't understand how Floyd Mayweather makes so much money allegedly. He makes 30 something million per fight?

From my understanding of how PPV works, if Mayweather-Cotto generates 94 million dollars in revenue, the PPV carrier is taking at least half of that...if not more.

So what is HBO and Showtime's cut?

What about the promoters? Do they take home measly a measly 7 figures along with the other fighter where Mayweather takes seemingly 90 percent of the income?

I don't know how it works out but every fight is different and it depends on what is in the contract. There is not a 'standard' for every single PPV card.

Does anyone have any insight on this fucking contract. I wanted to make a thread about it but this will do just fine. I can't believe the guarantee stays the same for every fight if not some criteria is met regarding the numbers. Showtime would be stupid to do otherwise. This 600 mio figure floating around is a complete fantasy number in case Floyd does 2.5 million fighting all the hungry lions.

Ali/Frazier each got 5 Million for the fight of the century... that works out to roughly 28 Million today, just to give you an idea how ridiculous the money Floyd is getting is

To make it even crazier... the 32-million is the guarantee, no matter how many units are sold. Floyd actually gets a cut of revenue above and beyond the 32-mill, depending I imagine on what kind of profits are made.

I was reading that showtime's break even was around 1.1 to 1.2 million PPV buys. They lost money on this fight.

60M from PPV, and 10M from the live gate. They MIGHT break even.

"PPV" stands for "pay per view".
