While I doubt Alvarez\Henderson does 725k PPV buys, it shows that the UFC was serious about Alvarez. I also don't see how Bellator can claim they match a contract that has a date for a PPV included. Hopefully this crap ends soon and Alvarez can come to the UFC and beat the beJesus out of Henderson already. TFK
I don't get how Bellator can match that, they have never even done a PPV and the UFC has proven they can do good PPV numbers and have been doing it for years. They are basically fucking Alvarez out of his prime right now by doing this shit to him. I'd love to see him in the UFC. With that said Henderson UD!
afaik, their's nothing to suggest that it wouldn't be on FOX. With that kind of contract, and with Alvarez not being a star, they would be stupid imo to put him on PPV right away.
I agree. Henderson-Alvarez isn't a PPV main event. Alvarez wasn't even the best LW in Bellator. As much as MMA fans know Alvarez, the casual fan doesn't.
yep, considering Henderson last 2 fights were on fox, both agains more well known opponents than Alavarez, I don't see the UFC putting this fight on PPV, especially considering they'd have to pay the B side of the PPV that much more. And in the case they would put it on, I just don't see it making anything near 725k
I think Dana looks at Eddie Alvarez and sees dollar signs. His lighterweight champs, GSP, Henderson, even Cruz, they don't finish fights. Alvarez does. Alvarez is never in a boring, safety first fight. Now obviously GSP will always be a huge draw as long as he keeps winning and and as long as Canada goes nuts for him, but the rest? I think he knows Alvarez, with his skill and his style, can be a huge star for the UFC. He's pretty marketable. If I were Michael Chandler, I would be watching this situation very closely. He's the real deal, and I'm sure Dana White is already making plans to grab him down the road. TFK
Let's see how many finishes Alvarez gets once he's in with UFC level opponents instead of the shallow talent pool of Bellator.
I have no doubt that Alvarez would become a UFC fan favorite with his style. But I also think his style would lead to him losing a bunch of fights in the UFC. Again this isn't a dude that comes into the UFC and fights Joe Lauzon or Matt Wiman. Alvarez would start at the top of the division. And Alvarez hasn't face a high level fighter in a long time. And remember, I'm a guy that gives him major credit for easily beating guys I regarded highly like Curran, Pitbull and even Huerta at the time.
