Irish is the only boxing fan I know of who reads these people (Rafael, Kim, etc.)

Years and years ago, 2000-2001, before this forum was ever up, I used to email people like Chris Cozzone, Steve Kim, some other dude called Alvarez etc....I used to get replies off them too, Kim emailed me {and I am only sorry I never kept the email} where he referred to Vitali as "Quitali Quitschko".......My point in all of this is that most of these bums, perhaps terrified by the near-miss that had been Andrew Golota, were none too happy when another pair of pretty decent heavies emerged from post-Communist USSR. So they started early. I didn't see the Purritty fight, did you? Did anyone? Certainly none of the morons who wrote vast tomes about how Wlad "quit" had in fact seen the fucking fight.

And here we have guys like Angulo quitting and its all neatly filed away, neatly taken care of.

I must say, however, my favourite chapter in it all is the friendship they struck up with "El Inca". Nobody talks about El Inca any more.

So you think Angulo should have kept fighting with the Mars Rover growing out of his forehead..........you don't think the ref, or doc, or corner would have stopped it the second they saw it blow up like that, or is this some sort of misplaced agenda that has nothing to do with nothing?

If you really believe what you believe, you should be adding Angulo to the catalog of fighters you support, and filing it under the category of fighter protection. Instead you're like some crazed Justin Bieber fan, rattling off death threats to every B-level celebrity and comedian that sends out an uncomplimentary tweet about him.

Not sure if you're joking about Golota, or you really think there's some sort of boxing media conspiracy regarding big Eastern European Caucasions.

Why can't they be just like us mom, why can't they be just like us?

Not at all. There is an old saying in boxing that the boxer who does not respect himself need not expect anyone else to. Angulo was probably not going to win, albeit being ahead on one card. He did the right thing. Needless to say, his claims that he had been thumbed were bunkum and nobody else asked why either his head or Fernando Vargas head or Denis Lebedev's head swelled so grotesquely as they did. Chris Byrd on the other hand eats 1000 jabs and some right hands and forward-thinking persons in the boxing World want to know why his eyes came out like they did, in Germany. :shit:

Angulo quit. I am just wondering why quitting is now so de rigeur around here. It used to attract such horrible derision, darling.....

I did no such thing. Again, I merely question where the change occurred...the change from "Death to Quitters" to "Amnesty For Quitters". It's a marked change. I must have been sick or absent the day they made that change.

Golota scared fuck out of a lot of these morons. Big, smooth, great jab, plenty of power, that was a damned near miss. Thank fuck he was a quitter, eh.

That's now. I can promise you I got an email from him circa 2000 where he referred to Vitali as I say he did.

Of course, he was just merely waiting for Vitali to earn his respect

People like to stereotype. So an Eastern European must be fragile when the going gets tough. Hello Rocky 4.

But we all love a redemption story after a pure quit job. Hello Genaro Hernandez and Vitali.

But that doesn't stop us from calling a guy a quitter and saying there is no chance for redemption. Ever. Hello Freitas and Ortiz.

But that doesn't stop us from wanting to be wrong about the guy we overrated and be right about the guy we rated. Hello Freitas and Ortiz.

But, as you already pointed out, Angulo didn't quit, his body quit on him. Perhaps if Vitali had acted and looked hurt against Byrd prior to quitting, we might have a comparison to say people are acting similarly or differently, but he didn't.

Angulo, otoh, reacted immediately, looked hurt, and reflexively turned his back. So if he did quit, it is a new animal. And I don't see the obvious comparison?

I believe you. Vitali didn't get any respect till Lewis.

I'm no Kim fan. I think he's a dick. But 10+ years is a lot of seasoning. He's spent a lot of time around the game. Perspectives change.

Actually, I'd say Lennox was the original European problem for the US. He's gained in stature since the 00's, but throughout the 90's he was underrated fierce.

Not sure if that is because England is closer than the Ukraine or if because black is closer to what a heavyweight should be than white, but his fan love is distinctively a post-Holyfield thing.

And that is the fundament of the matter. 10 years in boxing is an age. An age. Yet when Wlad, the non-quitting quitter, still in the days when he let his hands go for fun, turned out against gate-keeper Phil Jackson and destroyed him in two rounds, Kellerman {in his then ESPN job} called the fight with the words..."Last time you will ever here Roy Jones name mentioned in the same sentence as Klitschko"

Personally, I think Max is just a bigoted little Jew fuck from New York who likes to throw stones at the Soviet Mission on his way back from the Shul. But that's just me. I have nothing against Jews. I know plenny a jews. You see these hands...I'll snap your neck like a fucking breadstick......but I digress.

IN ANY EVENT......there was MORE than enough on display from Wlad to suggest that the book was still open on him and that his potential class as well as his potential flaws were as of yet unknown. Kellerman made the statement he did not out of pure belief but out of hope and desire. And you don't do that in boxing and get away with it everytime.

Tell you the truth, I think Kellerman belongs in an upper echelon of the "'Murica" category. The commentary is pure 'Murica.

It starts there, and its forgiveable up to a point. Visual conditioning is not a sin. Nobody expects a Toyota to win the Nascar races. If it doesn't say "Pennzoil" on the side then we are going to have suspicions about it.

Kellerman used also maintain a relatively decent stance on the sanctioning bodies...."Pooey, I spit on them" etc.

Then he went to work for HBO and changed his tune somewhat.

He hasn't changed an iota, he just knows who his paymasters are and dances accordingly.

yeah, Kellerman actually watches boxing... he doesn't look at photos and then construct a narrative

I always thought Kellerman was pretty good, people seem to not like the guy though. He's a huge fan of boxing, I appreciate that. He gets a bit excited, but it's because he loves what he does.

Kellerman is alright... he definitely has his favorites whom he lobs softballs at, but I don't see him as any worse than Merchant, who was less enthusiastic and did the same thing

Honestly, I could do without both

Kellerman is one of the most dislikeable people I've ever seen on TV, and a sycophantic goggle eyed groupie to boot. Conversely, Merchant is one of the most likeable and charismatic people I've seen on TV.

Merchant KO 1 Kellerman, albeit Merchant is way past his consume by date. He's all white and furry now with blue spots.

Hut knows the fucking score. Kellerdude is a vile, repugnant piece of excrement with the IQ of a fencepost, compared to the cynical, majestic, off kilter wonder that is Larry.

If he wasn't a boxing commentator I could picture Kellerman on The Apprentice giving an enthusiastic white board presentation to Alan Sugar
