Broner's really not a funny guy. He's become so obnoxious. I was expecting a big performance from him against Paulie and we just didn't get that. Paulie wanted it more than Broner on the night but just came up short.

you make it sound like Gatti was some kind of chump...if you ignore his last couple of fights where he looked really bad starting with Mayweather....he had a good career with good wins...2 belts at 2 weight classes..undefeated in title fights until mayweather..not that bad

 

anyhow..boxing is filled with so many crappy fighters i don't see too many people that can beat him...even the Argentine that everyone is braggin about....he has heavy hands but so damn slow...when Judah is still around beating people...we got problems in boxing

When fans of a fighter only discusses stats and alphabet titles (one of which was a vacant title won against an entirely undistinguished opponent), it says a lot about that fighter. Gatti was fun to watch, but limited...and more popular than good.

Gatti was very much a chump who was carefully matched most of his career because A) he got hit very easily and B) he got hurt very easily... anyone who thought Mayweather/Gatti was in any way a compelling matchup going in knows fuck-all about boxing

Gatti was a thrilling TV fighter who had a lot of heart and one big punch but never came close to beating a B+ fighter in his life... his entire "rebirth as a boxer" was the product of excellent management against a clubfighter (Ward), a shot fighter (Millett) and a feather-fisted midget (Dorin) ... He was cannon fodder for every decent man he ever faced, which is why he seldom faced them ... He was a "beltholder" in a weak division over weak beltholders

His light welterweight "title" was a bullshit strap made possible by the WBC and their ludicrous "super champ" nonsense

Sven Ottke would be a good example, Ivan Calderon would be an even better one... both were more successful than him
