This is what I've read. Groves isn't even ranked #2 in the IBF rankings. Anyway, I've read that this is the case and both parties have until July 12 to come to an agreement. If they can't agree then the fight will go to purse bids. Froch risks losing the IBF belt if he doesn't face Groves. This could take place in October.
Wembley Arena holds 12,500. The O2 Arena holds 20,000. M.E.N arena holds 23,000. The City Ground holds 30,602. Upton Park holds 35,016. This fight would easily fill Upton Park. I wonder whether Froch would aim to have it at Forest's ground.
Would Froch vacate though? I don't think he would. He's said that he'd fight his mandatory challenger.
It pisses me off that Glasgow hasnt got a decent sized arena....the new Hydros only 13k and then the jump is all the way to 50-60k for Ibrox,Hampden,CP. It makes no sense. But yeah, city ground sounds good. Although maybe not in a british october.
It would be interesting to find out (if this does get made that is) where they'd hold it. I think the IBF are mad to install Groves as mandatory. I mean, that Thomas Oosthuizen is ranked above Groves...why not have an eliminator with the winner to face Froch? Makes more sense. To be honest, Groves hasn't faced any kind of adversity in his last three outings. He blitzed through all three of his latest opponents who had nothing to offer in return. It's lining him up for a rude awakening. Groves is a handy fighter. He has decent movement and good power, but I don't see him as a really skillful operator.
