Only God Forgives - Trailer/Discussion

Just watched this movie. It's on netflix Streaming.

I have to say, i really enjoyed it. Yes it was slow and nobody hardly said a fucking word, but for some reason it worked. The film was shot beautifully. The sets, the costumes, etc.

The brothers were clearly mentality disturbed. Obviously due to whatever abuse they suffered at the hands of their crazy mother. But you can tell that Gosling had done some bad shit. All the references to his hands in the movie. Blood while washing them, slow motion shots, always clinching, always looking at them, killing his dad, etc. Some evil shit occurred as a result of those hands. So him offering them up at the end was just a way to cleanse himself. The scene where he stuck his hand inside his mother's stomach was, IMO, his way of saying he never felt comfortable in this world. This movie is definitely worth a watch in order to develop your own opinion. BTW, i dont consider the cop bad at all. He was actually a good guy, removing the world of evil. That is how i saw him. I never saw one thing he did that was evil, unless it was to someone bad or who didnt have it coming. It may seem like he is the bad guy, but i dont think so. And he very well could be the God in the title.

 

I dont know. Probably the long silence and the fact that gosling really doesnt do much, including fight. I rank it last among his movies tho. But im still thinking about this movie since i saw it. Which is always a good thing.

 

Just watched this movie again. I have to reiterate my thoughts. This movie is pretty damn good. And i still think im spot on about the cop.
