If the farmer gets past Groves, then this becomes one of the best matchups to be made in the sport.

    Who wins?

Well Ward IMO is the best fighter in the world currently, so yes, he beats either.

To answer my own question, I think Frochy's D is a bit too leaky to beat Kov. Old man Kessler shook him up a few times in the rematch. All the shots Frochy has taken has got to take it's toll eventually. Plus, Kov isn't some retarded, spurt fighting plodder like AA was. He mixes up his attack, and actually thinks in there.

I wasn't aware that Froch was a worn out fighter when Ward schooled the shit outta him. He damn sure didn't look worn out when he destroyed Bute in his very next fight.

when and where did i say otherwise

ward is a winner in a fight between kov and froch.

ward vs dawson at 168 and froch vs kov at 175 = wins all round for ward

On paper Kovalev should win, but Froch is much better than he seems and Kovalev still is bit untested. This is pretty much what I thought of Kovalev vs Cleverly too and Kovalev splashed him so perhaps I'd make him the favorite. Fascinating matchup

    I agree with this.

Froch has proven me wrong in 4 fights (Taylor, Kess, AA, and Bute) so I can't count him out.

On paper though, Kov is bad for him. I also said AA was bad for him, but it's different because AA was a midget, and I grossly overrated his intelligence. Basically AA is a plodder who explodes in spurts, and doesnt do much thinking in the ring.

Kov is different. You can see he has an understanding of spacing, and timing, and knows how to mix up his attack naturally. In that way, he and GGG are similar. Both killers with good ring IQ.

I think Kov stops Froch late. Carl has taken a fair amount of punishment in his career, and it's bound to catch up with him eventually. I think in the long run Kov's firepower would be too much for him.

I think that Kov would be too much for Froch after I saw him destroy Campillo.

I'd favour Kovalev too... but who wouldn't want to see those guys throw bombs at eachother for all the marbles at 175?

I think Adonis probably has the edge in power.

Another reason to love Kov. Unlike GGG, who's a nice/soft spoken guy who turns into a killer when the bell rings, Kov has some "swag" to him. There's a pic on the Scene of him throwing the "fuck you" sign to the Brit fans after destroying that fraud. lol

I'd lean towards Frock. More crafty, more proven.

I'd favor Kovalev over Froch, slightly... good matchup though, be very enjoyable

I think Kovalev gets Adonis out of there in 3 or 4 rounds

Kovalev-Froch would be fucking savage, I'd love to see it. It's hard to call a winner as Kovalev is such a beast and the bigger guy, but Froch just keeps upsetting the odds and has operated at a much higher level. He hasn't been in the ring with anybody like this guy though, seriously heavy handed.

Don't think there's much in it size wise to be honest. Frock is a big super middle, and Kovalev is average sized at best at 175. Frock is an inch taller with longer reach, and it's not like Kovalev is overly beefy. I reckon they'd weigh a similar amount on the night. The main thing is Kovalev is effortlessly heavy handed, Frock would need to be careful, fight a fairly disciplined fight similar to when he punked Arabham.

Kovalev has that sickening kind of power, even if you don't hit the deck it sticks with you.

Don't Back Away from Yet Another DISINGENUOUS Post, Homey...

You're INSINUATING Ward is Somehow OBLIGATED to Fight Kovalev Before Froch or Anybody Else Does, which is Bullshit...Last Time REED Checked, Ward's Resume was Pretty Much BEYOND Reproach, Since the Super 6...AND, he Beat Froch, COMFORTABLY....

Arguably, Ward's ALREADY Surpassed Anything Joe Calzaghe EVER Did, In HALF the Time...Not Really Much There to HATE On....

Apparently, Nathan Ortiz doesn't think he deserves to be getting hit like this. He's contemplating retirement.

he has suffered his first defeat, a debilitating one at that, and has a blue-chip education, so such a contemplation is fairly reasonable.

I'm wondering if he is a better version of McClellan and a much better version of Pavlik? Similar power, but less likely to be outboxed. McClellan and Pavlik always seemed a bit emaciated whereas Kovalev seems comfortable at the weight. But, since he keeps getting rid of guys so early that might not be the case.

G-man and Pavlik didn't have the same style. Both were tall, BIG, rangy middleweights with big right hands, but there styles weren't the same. G-man was a far more explosive puncher than Pavlik, and far more mobile. More in the mold of a less refined, better chinned Hearns.

However, Pav and Kovalev are similar. I suspect that Kovalev is better than Pavlik ever was. Granted, Cleverly is not on the same level as a prime Taylor, so Kelly's resume is still superior as of now. At the same time, Pavlik never EFFORTLESSLY destroyed a quality fighter the way Kov did on Sat. Even in KOing Taylor and Miranda, Kelly endured damage.

I think Kov has a fluidity to him that Pavlik didn't possess. I think he's less one dimensional, and I think his ring IQ is higher.
