Rigondeaux by close decision... Erik does better than Nonito did because he's much better on the attack than Nonito, but I think he misses a lot more than he lands and eats his share of sharp counters
if morales doesnt KO the guy i dont think he'd win. you better believe he'd test the toughness of rigondeaux more than donaire did and it would be a much more eventful, entertaining fight
Donaire hits harder, is a better counterpuncher and has faster hands Morales is more versatile and I'd rate him a better fighter
Morales just MIGHT Fuck Around & Get KO'ed in this Matchup...As you Stated, Morales would TEST Rigondeaux More than Donaire Did, or @ Least ATTEMPT To... Rigondeaux's a LEGITIMATE 118-122 lb PUNCHER...No, he's NOT Carlos Zarate or Wilfredo Gomez, but he Possesses Fight Ending Power w/SINGLE Left Hand Shots, Nonetheless...Bottom Line, Rigondeaux Hits HARD, he's ACCURATE as Hell & Morales NEVER had Good Defense... As TOUGH as Erik Morales was, he COULDN'T Afford to EAT Rigondeaux's Counters All Fight Looooooooooong...@ the Same Time, he'd Be Toooooooooooo PROUD to Fight CAUTIOUSLY, just to Last the Distance... REED:hammert:
Yep, Morales is Better OVERALL, but Donaire was "Better" Equipped to BEAT Rigondeaux, in REED's Opinion... REED:hammert:
I think Morales is competitive but winds up losing a close decision.. I don't see him being able to KO Rigondeaux. Morales could wind up getting a close, controversial decision too. Morales vs Donaire would be an entertaining scrap. Donaire is still a very talented fighter imo. Nevertheless, anyone who backs down against Rigo isn't going to be able to deal with the 122 lb version of El Terrible (to strong to powerful)
Morales would keep making the fight against Rigondeaux, Donaire decided real quick he'd rather drop the D than keep eating counters.
I have to disagree Mr.REED - anyone who makes Donaire lead troubles him and Rigo was not only super cautious but a genius at fighting that way. I agree with The Clogg that Morales has a much better style to beat Rigo for the reason he gave. Over 3 Morales might take rubber. Disagree with X that Donaire is overrated. Donaire would have every chance vs Morales or Barrera at 122 if they fought gung ho.
That wasn't my interpretation at all. He knew he needed a big punch and he tried to set traps to land it. In the last couple rounds he put it on the line best he could.....he just isn't a volume guy that's down to style not effort.
agREED... & As Morales Kept On "Making the Fight", Rigondeaux would Keep On DRILLING his Ass w/Counters... REED:hammert:
REED Certainly Can't DISagree w/the Notion of Nonito Perhaps PREFERRING to Counter, But he Also had a KNACK for BAITING Counterpunchers into Exchanges w/Some FAUX Leading, if you Will...if, If, IF Nonito Donaire was, by Definition, a "Counterpuncher", he was Also Among the More AGGRESSIVE "Counterpunchers" we've EVER Seen... Pertaining to Donaire-Rigondeaux, it was GIVEN Nonito was Gonna HAVE to Force the Fight... REED:hammert:
I'm actually not sure 'counter punchers' a useful classification. Like Ali and James Toney - are they both 'counter punchers'? Donaire's a guy who looks for openings to land big shots, eats up guys who comes throwing at him and tends to struggle with movement and defensive fighters. If there's a word for that it's really 'slugger', if we're thinking of the old slugger-swarmer-boxer triangle. Same as James Toney, Naseem Hamed, George Foreman (yup i really did just group those 4 together ::).....
Same... I didn't see it as a lack of fortitude or effort at all... He just had a Rubik's cube in front of him
