[h=1]Kampmann, Condit to lead UFC event[/h] Martin Kampmann ranks as the No. 7 contender in UFC. Share This Story Updated May 31, 2013 6:03 PM ET The five-round main event at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis will take place on Aug. 28. Tickets go on sale June 14. This is a rematch of an April 2009 fight that Kampmann won via a split decision. Condit (28-7), the No. 2 contender in UFC's official rankings, is coming off two losses, albeit by decisions in close fights against welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre and top contender Johny Hendricks. Kampmann (20-6) is ranked as the No. 7 contender. In his last fight, Kampmann was knocked out by Hendricks in the first round last November. FOX Sports 1 debuts Aug. 17 and will feature a major UFC card in Boston. The headliner for that event has not been announced.
Don't forget, this card is Wednesday night 8/28. In addition to the 5 round war in the main event, Cerrone vs Dos Anjos is also. Gret match-up.
I think Kampmann will pull off the upset again. Either that or he's getting brutally KO'd in the 1st round.
It's funny how I read Condit saying the Diaz fight was controversial. it wasn't controversial and you know it Carlos! You're smart though, you're just saying it to get another high profile fight, and to fight a guy you know you can easily beat. Very clever Carlos, very clever.
yeah that cracked me up. Good performance by Condit. Kampmann is all heart but he is just too fragile.
Perez looked like a guy that became clueless when his opponent didn't drop in the first round. Credit to Mizugaki for weathering the early barrage. I thought the main card was very interesting. Dos Anjos proved he deserves to be ranked. Gastellum proved winning TUF was no fluke. He is going to do well at 170. And Court McGee, while basically unskilled, proved you can do OK in MMA with cardio and a good chin. And on the undercard, the Thatch KO was great and Dylan Andrews come-from-behind KO of Abedi with a hurt left arm was very fun to watch.
My post disappeared. Was the Thatch fight televised? I watched a 3 hr telecast, but was there something before that? Didn't think Condit did too great against Hendricks and don't think he ever will.
i think condit would've beaten hendricks had it been a five rounder. he'd better hope that hendricks beats GSP.
