And therein lies the biggest question. Is EVERY single commission THAT fucking incompetent EVERY time? Is Brother Nazim really THAT much of a fucking genius that he can spot in once instance which no commission was ever able to find previously?

Listen, I HATE Marg. Hated the fucker even before the scandal. But I'm not sure I can believe that he sneak plaster into his gloves past various commissions for YEARS.

Yeah, this isn't like the time Sven Ottke refused to take his gloves off after he loaded them against Joe Gatti.

Margarito was shaking hands with his wraps on after he stopped Cotto.

You're Affording Margarita Waaaaaaaaaaaay Tooooooooooo MUCH Benefit of the Doubt Here...Based on the Way he JOKED about it in "Pacquiao-Margarito 24/7" Or the Way he Basically Threw it in Cotto's Face (During their Face to Face Sit Down w/Max Kellerman), he Most Certainly DOES NOT Deserve the Benefit of the Doubt...

Since, as you Said, Margarita's Never Been Known as a "Big" Puncher, there was NEVER Pressure on him to KO Mosley...To This Day, Mosley's NEVER Been KO'ed, so Even Though Margarita was FAVORED to Win, a KO was Never Likely...

What IMMEDIATELY Stood Out Post Cotto-Margarita I, was the Degree to Which Cotto was CARVED UP...Was that Simply a Case of Cotto Having TENDER Skin???...If So, why Didn't he Mark Up 1nce Again in the RE w/Margarita???...

Boxing Commissions Vary...While it's Standard Procedure for a Commission Representative to be Present During Hand Wrapping/Gloving, they're NOT Always Watching Closely...Commission Reps are Usually FANS Themselves, who Can Be EASILY Distracted by the Presence of Many People in a Dressing Room, a FAMOUS Fighter/Trainer, the Presence of Celebrities in the Fighter's Dressing Room, etc...

It's Typically Up to the Representative from the OTHER Fighters Dressing Room, to Notice Discrepancies in Handwrapping, Which is what Happened in the Case of Margarita-Mosley...

Wraps Naturally Harden Through the Course of a Fight, Bro...It'd Be Next to Impossible to Detect Plaster Inserts Mixed In w/Gauze, After an 11 Round Fight...

He wasn't behaving like the had anything to hide.

Either way, no one but Margarito and his team know for sure.

WHY Would he???...The Inserts were BURIED Under the Gauze...

    Here's what we KNOW...

Sugar Shane Mosley was Considered a LESSER Opponent than Cotto, Leading Up to those Bouts...Margarito Attempted to CHEAT vs. Mosley...Margarito's Punches DID NOT Have Nearly the Same Effect on Cotto in the 2nd Fight...There's a Picture of Margarita's Gauze RIPPED in the Fist Area, just After the Cotto Fight...

Granted, All of the "Evidence" is CIRCUMSTANTIAL, but it's THERE...Margarita's ONLY "Defense" is, he DIDN'T KNOW the Inserts were There, as if it's Possible to Get your Hands Wrapped & NOT Know...OR, as if his Trainer would Jeopardize Margarita's Reputation like that w/Out Consulting w/him First...

Then, the Way Margarita Flippantly JOKED about it, While in Camp w/Roberto Garcia & his Defiant "I Couldn't Care Less; WHATEVER" Remark to Cotto, when Faced w/a Pretty DAMNING Photograph of his TORN Gauze...

if, If, IF we Take Magarita @ FACE Value & ASSume he Really DIDN'T Know his Trainer was Using Plaster Inserts, then Even Margarita Himself CANNOT Definitively Conclude he WASN'T Cheating in the 1st Fight w/Cotto...

Yeah, he sure doesn't look like somebody with a major crime to hide. Every time a camera points at him he brings his wraps up to pose, smiling.

Here's the Photo Cotto Confronted Margarito w/...

As Cotto Said to Margarito, Gauze DOESN'T Tear or Rip on its Own...It has to Be CUT or Wrapped around Something ABRASIVE (like PLASTERfuckingINSERTS) to Be Ripped...Simply Wrapping Gauze Around your Fist ISN'T Going to TEAR the Gauze Up, the Way it is in that Pic...

Is it torn? Or is it a bit of lint or something? Or do you mean the pink bit at the side? Isn't that just a bit of blood where he's dabbed his eye or something? If you look immediately after he takes his gloves off neither 'abnormality's evident.

I am not sure if you can compare 1st and 2nd fights that way. For one, in the first fight there were lot more exchanges than in the second. Especially once Cotto began to tire, Margarito caught him often, which produced most of the cuts.

Also, even if Margarito had punched Cotto as often as he did in the first round, cuts do not happen the same way every time. For whatever reason, sometimes a clean shot opens a cut, another time a punch that looks similar or harder, does not. It is also a myth that punching power doesn't reduce: the strength is there, but the effectiveness of punches has plenty to do with balance, timing, sharpness etc. All of which probably suffered when Margarito took hellacious beatings against Mosley and Pacquiao.

It is also completely possible that a trainer would take such risk without fighter knowing about it, since they might have different motivations. As I said before, there might well have been betting going on, somebody had made a good bet for a KO win. Or perhaps only against Mosley they had figured out a way of how to cheat: if cheating was as easy as to load gloves and trusting that nobody checks them, you'd think that there had been several more cases. It is not like all the fighters and managers were above it.

Margarito is a true scumbag and admittedly his joking about loading gloves was disgusting but that itself is no proof either.

It's Absolutely TORN/RIPPED, Bro...Look @ the Close Up of his Fist...

Cotto Presented this Pic to Margarito & All he Could Muster in Response was "I Couldn't Care Less; Whatever"....

You're REACHING for Possibilities/Explanations, Some of Which Aren't LOGICAL...Theoretically, Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny Could've Placed Plaster Inserts in the Trainers Bag, Right???...

Both Cotto-Margarito Fights Played Out Fairly SIMILARLY...Cotto's Skill Level Dominated the Action til about the Mid Point, he Began To TIRE & Margarita Came On a Bit...Only Difference is, his Punches DID NOT Have Near the Same Affect on Cotto in the RE...

After the 1st Margarito Fight, Cotto Became a Certified BLEEDER...He BLED in the Clottey Fight & he BLED in the Pacquiao Fight...Yet NATHAN in the RE w/Margarito???...

Punching Power Most Certainly DOES NOT Diminish...The Ability to LAND Does, but Again, Margarita LANDED Shots in the RE w/Cotto...Cotto's NEVER Been Terribly Hard to Hit & he WASN"T in the RE w/Margarita Either...

By All Accounts, Capetillo was a "Father Figure" to Margarita & WOULD NOT have Introduced Plaster Inserts Into the Equation w/Out his Fighter's Consent...

This might be a stupid Q but wouldn't packing your wraps with plaster break your hands? Seems to kinda defeat the purpose of all that gauze.

Not at all, as I said I am on the fence with the whole question and I don't want to see Margarito guilty nor innocent, I really don't care that much apart from that it would be nice to know the truth. I am just giving you reasons why I am not CONVINCED that Margarito cheated against Cotto, that's all. No Santa Claus theories needed

The Majority of the Gauze would Be on the FIST Itself...Then Another Few Layers or So, to MASQUERADE the Plaster...Think of it was a Plaster Sandwich, w/Gauze as the Bread...

OK, based on this I'm pretty certain Margarito did have zdirty wraps vs Cotto

CSAC inspector David Pereda, who was in the room, later testified, “Naazim opened the gauze and pulled something out of it. He showed us what appeared to be an old gauze which had been used before and hardened from perhaps being sweaty and wet many times.”

Inspector Guevara testified, “It [the knuckle pad] was a clean new bandage. But within it, in the inner layers of it, was another bandage wrap. It was not as white as a new bandage wrap would be. It was used and it looked almost like it was sweat soaked and that’s what caused it to have the discoloration. It was harder in certain areas than it should be for pure gauze. It was definitely firm and hard. I believe there was a little bit of, it looked like old blood, on it.”

Mike Bray (an inspector who entered the dressing room during the dispute) recalled, “I observed what appeared to be a blood stain on the corner of the pad. I also noticed that it was moist and dirty-looking. The pad had the appearance that it had been used before. After looking at the pad closer, I could see a white substance smeared across the face of the pad and into the gauze. I touched the white substance, and it was hard to touch. It looked like a cast plaster or maybe a thicker type of white out that you would put on paper.”

All I know is Margarito made Mosley look like Superman that night. It was Mosley's last fight where he looked like a fit prime version of himself, his last time living the high life off of a big important victory.
