canelo gave his best effort. floyds reflexes and foot speed is incredible. especially when he wants to be in a defensive mode like he was last night.
Canelo was aiming to time/box Floyd for the majority of that fight. At times it looked like his attitude was "fuck this, I want to get hit in order to catch this guy", but he didn't press the issue enough. Tbh, Floyd was simply just too good for him.
Yup. I was hoping he would have made the fight closer then he did but I kept telling people he needed to fight Floyd like Jose Luis Castillo did. Get in his grill, stay on his chest, tap him wherever he could. I figured it was against his nature, and he wouldn't be able to do this. I do give Floyd props for taking this particular fight though.
Ya'll act like Canelo was not in there trying to take Floyds head off. Dude was in their throwing bombs! Like many have stated dude pressed the action at times but Floyd was just too damn quick and his defensive skills are better than Caneols offense. I mean you could see Canelo trying but fuck when you throw bombs after bombs and you continue missing 1 you are gonna tire yourself out which he prolly did and 2 he got hella frustrated. Canelo put forth a solid effort. It's just Floyd is just that fucking good. I just don't get just because a dude didn't do so well against todays greatest boxer that we automatically think he's a bum. Put Canelo in the ring against any other fighter in his weight class and they get put to sleep. I'll Holla 5000
:atu: Should've told me. I'd have hooked you up with a free pristine HD stream with no buffering or freezing.
I keep hearing all of this bullshit about how Canelo fought the wrong fight... He fought the way he fights, the way he has always fought... He's not a pressure fighter, he's not a volume guy... There's nothing to indicate he would have any idea how to execute such a strategy... Furthermore, the guy is and has always been a spurt fighter... He can't throw 100 punches per round
I don't think Canelo bitched out at all, he did what he could, it just wasn't close to being good enough against a guy like Floyd.
Which is why it was such a gash fight from the beginning. Hatton gave Floyd more problems. It's a sad indictment.
I thought the 8th round was the blueprint on how he should have fought. If he minded himself with a kill or be killed attitude I think he could have pulled it up for 12 rounds. While I don't think it would have won him the fight, it would have made it closer and more exciting.
I agree, but there you have it. It's why I never backed Canelo. It's like asking a tin opener to open a jam jar. Horses for Courses.
I am not criticizing Floyd. I do for fighting old Cotto, old Mosley, but not Alvarez. Floyd was overpaid for the fight, but there is no such thing as an overpaid fighter. Floyd did his thing. I am criticizing not the CHOICE of opponent, per se, but merely the opponent. Floyd has no Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, or even a Winky Wright or a young Oscar, that's not his fault. I just knew Alvarez would offer very very little.
The money Floyd got is disgusting, but I do stress it....no such thing as an overpaid boxer, especially where you have situations like a guy in Rehab pulling strings from behind his methadone cup. A fucking draw?
