the version of Oscar that beat Ruelas at 135 vs the version of Pac that beat David Diaz at 135

the version of Oscar that beat Chavez at 140 vs the version of Pac that beat Hatton at 140

the version of Oscar that beat Trinidad at 147 vs any version of 147 lb Pac pre-Marquez KO

how do you see those fights playing out?

The DLH that beat Chavez vs the PAC that beat hatton I'd like to see...but DLH would school him and stop him IMO

The 135 and 140 fights would be even money for me. I think Manny can be competive against Oscar at welter, but he's not winning.

The 135 is the most compelling matchup and Pac's best shot to win

I'd pick Hoya at 140 and comfortably at 147

DLH would be the obvious pick, he was a one-handed fighter for most of his career though.. always had trouble with southpaws. Pac's kryptonite is a good right hand, and that's something DLH never had.

REED has No Clue What his Fellow Fightbeaters are SMOKING, but Dela DWARFS Pac @ EVERYfuckingWEIGHT...Dude was 5'10, 70ish Inch + Reach REGARDLESS....130, 135, Whatever...& With his HANDSPEED, Dela CATCHES Pac w/Something @ Some Point that Pac's NEVER Felt Before...

Even Pernell Whittaker HAD to Be on his P's & Q's w/a Young Dela...Manny Pac WASN'T in Whittaker's Stratosphere, Defensively....Moreso, Pac Hit an Old, Weight Drained, IV Induced Dela w/EVERYTHING he Had, yet NEVER Dropped Him....

Pac's "Greater" ALL TIME, but ANY Version of Dela, Referenced in the Beginning of this Topic, KO's Manny Pac...

    C'Mon Now, Fellas...

Margarito was bigger than DLH, though obviously nowhere near as good .. I don't know if Pac would win this matchup, but DLH always had two problems:

    1) lack of a right hand
    2) faded late

I think those two things would hurt him severely against Pac. I could easily see Pac picking up enough early rounds and then sweeping the late ones to pull off a decision.

REED just Can't Fathom a Small AGGRESSIVE Guy, w/Somewhat LEAKY Defense, Beating a Young Dela...Even if you Think Whittaker BEAT Dela, he Did So w/BRAIN Instead of Brawn...

Again, The Absolute WORST Version of Dela we've EVER Seen, Took an 8 Round Asswhipping from Manny Pac w/Out 1nce Touching the Canvas...Point Being, Pac WOULDN'T Stop a Young Dela...REED Can't See him Outpointing Dela Either...

REED Isn't Sure Dela was a "Great" Fighter, Per Se, but he was VERY Good...If Not "Great", a HALF Notch Below, @ Worst...VERY Good Handspeed, Single Shot/Fight Altering POWER in his Left Hook, an UNDERRATED Left Jab...Dela Possessed Enough SCIENCE to Puzzle Pacquiao...Enough ATHLETICISM to Feint/Move/Position Himself to Catch Pac w/Shots he's Not Braced For...Enough POWER to Get Pac Out Of there...

& HUGE Advantages in Height & Reach...

Pac's an EPIC Little Guy, but REED Doesn't Think that's Enough to Beat a Borderline Great, CONSIDERABLY BIGGER Boxer/Puncher like Dela...Young, Prime Dela was a Class ABOVE Anybody Pac's Beaten from 135 Up....

Dela by VERY 1-Sided UD or Late Stoppage...

    I'm with REED

Pac's feats north of 135 are greatly oversold... The Oscar he fought was a shot old man with no speed and no reflexes... The young guy that dueled with Ike, Pete and Tito couldn't have been a more different fighter

To a degree maybe, but Cotto was a very skilled fighter. He wasn't somebody who didn't bring much to the table other than a size advantage like Margarito or Clottey. And while Mosley was many years past his best, Pac made him fight scared. Not something you'll see happen too often against Shane.

Cotto was also dragged down in weight, like so many Pac foes... That matters

I'd say outside of the first three rounds, Shane became plenty tentative when Floyd started tagging him a couple of years before Pac was in there with him

So are Oscar's at times, though

I just think Pac would prove a difficult puzzle for DLH to solve stylistically.. a blinding fast southpaw with good (not great, but good - definitely way better than DLH's) stamina? Think about it.

Floyd's and Pac's are more oversold IMO than Oscar's

Pac has never faced a guy that size with handspeed like that, power like that and ability like that in his prime or anywhere near his prime... same with Floyd

I was a huge De La Hoya hater.

Be that as it may, I would still take him over Pacquiao at welterweight lopsidedly. He probably stops him too.

At 140 it's more compelling I think though I'd still lean towards Oscar.

135 is 50-50 I think. Oscar wasn't quite the finished product at that weight and Pacquiao was in his prime while there. A pick em.
