    Another of these threads.

This is not a joke nor an agenda thread. One boxing expert (who is a big Mayweather fan) claimed that Diego Corrales ranks higher among super-featherweights than young George Foreman at heavies (the original debate was Floyd vs Ali). Could such case be made, and is it close?

The catch here is that most great fighters were not at their best as super-feathers: instead they either finished their career there or used it as a stepping stone. There was a time in history when there was no super-feather champion even as the weight class was not competed. Heavyweights, of course, are the most traditional weight class.

Most of Foreman's impressive list numbers are cans, but he has the big one, Frazier, which Corrales lacks. Corrales also proved his worth later against the likes of Castillo, but as a super feather he was better and defeated several contenders impressively there.

    So, who ranks higher?

Whomever said that is a moron

Foreman was way, way better than Diego Corrales, far more formidable

I don't think Corrales even rates as a top ten junior lightweight and he's not a top 20 all time Lightweight

Good fighter, great puncher, lots of heart and lots of flaws, but he's simply nowhere near Foreman all-time

Foreman got rid of the first two men to beat Muhammad Ali in a combined total of FOUR FUCKING ROUNDS

    That trumps Corrales' whole career

Hector Camacho & Julio Cesar Chavez were great junior lightweights. Corrales cannot be even mentioned among those names. Foreman is a name that always comes to mind when mentioning top ten heavyweights.

Hector Camacho is not among the all-time greatest Junior Lightweights... Certainly not top ten... Chavez, on the other hand, is an absolute lock for the top 5

Foreman. And I don't think it's all that close. And it's not surprising a "big Mayweather fan" would attempt to elevate Corrales in this manner. I remember Stafford trying to make more of Corrales than he actually was for that same purpose in his infamous Castillo = Duran, Corrales = Hearns, and DLH = Hagler theory when trying to compare Mayweather's resume to Leonard's.

Foreman outranks Castillo at any weight class he competed in.

It's odd to me that the writer in question would choose Foreman

i recall asking foreman about who he was picking to win between mayweather jr and corrales, at the fight. he said, "i dont know who will win, whoever is able to fight their fight...but i KNOW i wouldnt wanna be hit by that Corrales."

he clearly knew he wouldve been in over his head in a fight with corrales. case closed.
