.....are going to be busy for MMA fans: 11/2----- Bellator--Chandler-AlvarezII 11/6----- UFC Fight for Troops- Kennedy-Natal 11/9----- UFC Fight Night- Henderson/ Belfort 11/16-----UFC 167----GSP-Hendricks
I'm taken back by how poor Lawal has looked in Bellator. I think that life-threatening knee injury at his age really killed his career, he's looked puffy and unexplosive in his entire run. He was such a dynamite athlete in his 20s as well...very sad but he's certainly been a huge bust.
Dana White should be happy he didn't have to pay Alvarez all that money. I cannot believe there are people out there that are super high on him. He's basically a C-grade wrestler and a C+ grade striker with poor jiu-jitsu and a suspect chin. Michael Chandler isn't much better. Incredible athlete and a legitimately stud wrestler but limited elsewhere and has laughable standup.
Good wins last night for Kennedy and Michael Chiesa. It was actually an entertaining card for a Wednesday night.
Chiesa could go places if he was more athletic. I was really impressed with Yoel Romero. As silly as he looked his striking fundamentals were better than 90 of guys in MMA, particularly guys that are allegedly "good" like Conor McGregor. He just needs to remain focused at all times and make sure when he's moving his head he's accounting for kicks so he doesn't get kicked again.
I saw Romero won in a headline or I would have avoided this thread until I watched his fight. He was the only guy I cared about in last night's card. Probably said this before and they probably mentioned it last night, but Romero is one of the few people on earth who defeated Cael Sanderson in a wrestling match in his prime.
I can't decide if Romero looked good or Markes just looked awful. Markes certainly doesn't have near the striking game of his teammates.
Didn't mean to omit Bellator CVII from the lust. It is on tonight 11/8 on Spike at 8p. It features the HW tourney final with Cheick Kongo and the FW tourney final with Joe Warren.
didn't watch the card, but was looking forward to seeing romero. he beat cael sanderson 3 times in freestyle wrestling, but ended up losing to him during the olympics. he's kinda old too, aint he?
The main event tonight really is an epic match-up. Belfort is flat out back to destroying fools. And you gotta thing Hendo's fails at some point. Dan does a good job of keeping his chin tucked in wild exchanges and normally avoids taking clean shots. This allows him to stay aware enough to land his own shots. If the Vitor that fought aggressively against Rockhold and Bisping shows up, this will be fun.
Hendo gonna take this i think in my mind. It's tough cause i havent seen Henderson fight in a while and he is so old. But my gut says hendo. I cant see vitor winning a decision and i cant see Hendo getting KO'd.
Yep. I would assume their levels are near lethal since they're fighting in Brazil. But I'm pulling for Hendo.
3 times? I only knew about the Titan Games match. Know offhand what the other two times were? I knew Sanderson beat him in the olys.
Horrible stoppage. Dan was not only not out, but had a hold of Vitor's leg and actually lifted his hands when the ref stepped in asking WTF you doing?
Yeah, no big deal to me but not sure why Mirgliotta was hovering so closely. Given Henderson's ability to get hit and recover, I probably would have waited. Nevertheless, there were some brutal KO's on this card.
actually, it might have been twice. romero beat him in titan games and pan american games. all of their matches were close.
