I didnt say more I said equally but I understand you went to see Dawson and he got worked. It takes 2 to tango a common problem for both that their opponents dont hold up there end of the fight most times you wont get PBF in a brawl because he will use movement you wont get Ward in a brawl because he will maul and clinch , 2 different methods with same results Both land enough clean punches in between to satisfy me
i like plenty of guys who dont brawl. i just prefer seeing a boxer who does not employ the tactics ward commonly uses. all the mauling is tough to watch. just not an aesthetically pleasing style. in the pre fight ward spoke about how he has a healthy right shoulder now so he would be an even more effective fighter. i was hoping it would mean a cleaner performance, perhaps his over reliance on the left hand made it more difficult for him to fight from distance and caused him to want to be safer inside and smother guys. not the case he still hardly used his right hand and it was as ugly as ever.
I think if rodriquez doesnt start half of that stuff the fight would have looked like the dawson fight more instead of Bika bout IMO. I enjoyed Ward beating Froch and a few others while I dont care for the BHops style myself Ward fights enough good guys to where I just want to see if he can win regardless of the other guys style and he does Just like PBF he will always dictate the tempo
I was looking for his right hand as well , nothing. but I think Rodriquez forced Ward to jump into his comfort zone right away , every fighter reverts to what got you there when shit hits the fan Shoulder surgery is still a mystery as i know and i didnt see Ward throwing a confident RH
He didn't need his right hand last night...the way that power jab landed it had the same effect. Ward does tie up some but if you watch closely he does fight well on the inside and he's much stronger than he appears. As the fight wore on there were fewer clinches...partly because of the warnings but also due to Rodriguez realizing he couldn't win an inside battle. That's why I like Ward, he can dictate the pace inside and outside. For as smart as Floyd is, I'm not certain he could handle a tough inside fight like that at this point in his career. The last time we saw him in a fight like that was the first Castillo fight. If anything, he's fought a more negative style since then. The best fight I've seen him in since then was the Cotto fight.
the first castillo fight was competitive but it wasnt like it was some great action fight. it had a few good rounds but mostly was lacking for action and clean punches landed. many of mayweather jrs fights since then were more entertaining. , ward beating that piece of shit froch was the only fight of his i really enjoyed. and its not like i dont appreciate boxers many consider boring (mayweather jr, rigondeaux, wright)
I think Ward needed the Right Hand for his mental, he has been fighting without it since he was 12 and wanted to show a better new improved version and i dont he succeeded yes the power jab was building points and his patented left hook was testing the quality of rodriquez nose but you need two hands to stop guys unless your born with one shot power Ward spoke about how he wants to finish guys off better prior to the fight
This ref should referee Wlad fights. Take away two points right off the bat and make that pussy fight. Which would result in Wlad being dq'ed shortly thereafter or Ko'ed shortly thereafter.
I am indeed saying that Floyd vs. Canelo was a tremendous display, very entertaining... he beat the shit out of the guy... Fun to watch... Those fights you listed are better wins, but they weren't much fun to watch at all "we'll agree to disagree" but you end it with "Ckitten"? Sounds like you are kind of emotionally invested in this disagreement
mayweather jr walked mosley down and beat his ass. i cant think of a ward fight that was more entertaining
Ward calls out GGG http://www.boxingscene.com/ward-on-golovkin-i-see-him-calling-me-out--71787 "i don't see him calling me out"
Ward completely dominated every second of every round, but damn, the dude really does lack big time power. That sloppy bum Rodriguez wouldn't have lasted more than 3 with a young Jones. I still believe that Ward's biggest challenge is Kovalev. GGG is too small to beat Ward. I'd be rooting BIG TIME for GGG to knock the shit outta Ward, but I think he'd get badly outboxed.
Yeah to me young Roy is clearly superior to Ward. And I would make a prime Calzaghe a slight slight favorite over Ward. Ward vs Kovalev is an interesting fight.
