Machida is an almost impossible guy to clearly beat with Mousasi's strength (technical striking). I like Machida TKO.
Mousasi puzzles me. For a while, he looked unstoppable. Then all of a sudden he just looked mediocre. He lost to King Mo and struggled to a draw with Keith Jardine of all people. Still, this is an excellent fight on yet another UFC card with a great main event, and not much more. TFK
Mousasi has a good ground game especially off his back. I doubt Machida will be shooting in for take downs though. :l2:
Mousasi looks great on paper and I like the guy But anytime I see him fight, the fight record doesn't match the performance. I'll take Machida - next MW champ!!
I've alway's been a huge Moussassi fan, and I've alway's hyped him. But the past few years, he's been quite underwhelming, I don't know if it's due to disinterest because he was fighting in smaller show, lax training habit or if he's simply not as good as I thought. Still, I alway's felt that Machida striking was very overated and, as this should be a standup fight, I like Moussassi to win a boring UD with basically just his jab.
Well, you should see the UFC 170 card now that Evans has pulled out. Utter garbage (even if I kind of like Mcdonal vs Maia). But at least, it will give us an idea of Rousey true drawing power (personaly, I hope it does really bad so we see less woman MMA)
I don't get the Rousey hate. She spends every second of her fights trying for the finish. I wish more fighters fought with her urgency. TFK
I don't see Gegard jabbing away to a decision. Legs have more reach than punches and Machida has GREAT kicks. If Gegard played the jab game, Machida would play the kicking game and get the best of it. I hope Gegard wins, I like him so let's say Gegard wins by tko3. Machida's chin is kinda crap.
Rousey is fun to watch. Her fight with McMann will carry the card with or without Evans-Cormier. Supposedly UFC 168 did just over a million PPV buys. It wasn't totally driven by Silva-Weidman. Rousey is a huge draw. My problem is that the card is a week away and isn't being very heavily advertised. It might suffer if casual fans aren't aware Rousey is fighting again so soon.
I think the 185 pound version of Machida that stalked Munoz is a dangerous dude. I think he has certain advantages in every aspect against Mousasi.
munoz is a vulnerable guy and the fight ended kinda quickly. i dont think machida is a beast at 185 or anyweight at that matter. that remains to be seen and i guess we'll find out this weekend. i'm intrigued to see how machida deals w/ mousasi's pressure. machida will retreat as usual and look to counter, but mousasi has a pretty decent jab knows how to close the gap. also, both guys are dropping in weight.
I'm going with Machida. Mousasi has looked brilliant before, but he hasn't fought top level fighters in a while. I hope it turns out to be a good fight. Machida should get a title shot if he wins. I'd pick him to win against either Weidman or Belfort.
Machida is not that good. I would bet the house on either Weidman or Belfort against him. I think Mousssasi will beat him, as his running bullshit doesnt work against good strikers
I expected a boring fight but this is simply brutal. Machida is running a track meet and Moussassi is far too patient
Machida clearly won, but it was disappointing. It seems like his fights either end spectacularly or drag on to a boring decision. I still think he has a better chance of beating Weidman than anyone else in the division
I had it quite a bit closer than the official score (50-45 is just ridiculous) but still, Machida clearly won. Moussassi has a sparring partner mentality, he simply doesn't have the fire and also, he's not as good as I thought he was. Machida at 185 is the same as he was at 205, a tricky runner with some ko power. He still gonna make pretty much every fight vs a top opponent close, boring and debatable.
I didn't give Mousasi a single round so I have no issue with 50-45. It wasn't a blowout, but fights are scored by round, and it's no stretch to think a judge gave Machida every round. That being said, Machida was disappointing. There were several moments where he could have picked up the pace and done more damage but played it safe.
To be fair, most guys would have been knocked the fuck out by that head kick in the 2nd round. Mousasi has a hell of a chin. I don't think Vitor could have taken that shot.
machida won, but at times i thought mousasi was walking him down. machida's face was also busted up. i think weidman would crush him.
