see if you look at their ears. the top of Miragliotta's ears seem to be more distant from the head than the earlobe, whereas this isn't the case with Herb. That's how I recognize them. ::

Overall a horrendous night for Herb Dean. I'm not sure what he has against TJ Waldburger, but it was almost criminal how much extra punishment TJ absorbed. I'm not quite as upset about the Rousey-McMann stoppage because fighters rarely recover from liver shots like that. McMann barely made it back to her knees when Dean pulled Ronda off. That being said, a referee stoppage is intended to help protect the hurt fighter. So my question would be why a fully conscious McMann who was actually trying to improve her position needed more protection than a semi-conscious Waldburger who was getting viciously hammered. If this was Mirgliotta or Mazagatti, Dana would have been all over Twitter slamming them. Has he commented on Dean? Mazagatti is clearer the worst high profile ref in the sport.
Dana said it was a good stoppage and that he has seen DLH and other guys hit by shots like that. And if you havent been hit with a shot to the liver to shut the fuck up. That being said, That wasnt no fucking liver shot. She got the wind knocked out of her. No way she recovers from a liver shot that quickly.
Hard to say. She reacted like Sonnen and Bonnar did against Silva. Both of those were solar plexus shots. Regarding recovery time, Scott Smith took a crazy liver shot against Pete Sell and then knocked Sell out like 4 seconds later. It all depends. However, McNann dropped like a rock and just curled up. I'm in favor of letting it go and being ready to jump in, but in my opinion the fight was ending one way or another from THAT knee. There aren't too many better finishers from a dominant position than Rousey.
Scott Smith knocked out pete sell and then laid back down screaming in Agony. McMann got up and was looking at Herb like he was fucking crazy. Look where the shot landed. It wasnt on the liver. Unless McMann's liver is in her solar plexus.
i didnt think it was that awful of a stoppage especially considering that mcmann didn't really protest the stoppage. good to see mcdonald bounce back. and it's not like he got dominated by lawler in his last fight. i'd like to see him rematch condit should he get by woodley.

IF that was a liver shot, it's the greatest recovery from a liver shot i ever seen. McMann was not holding her sides in pain when the fight was over. She got up. Was questioning why it was stopped and was walking around like nothing happened.
The ref that stands out to me as being the shittiest is Jorge Alonso. A manager who cares about his fighter wouldn't let Alonso be the ref.
Yeah, Sara got back to her feet after Dean pulled Rousey off. No argument here. Liver shot or solar plexus is really not that important. Regardless of which it was, McMann involuntarily collapsed from the shot. Herb Dean can't say to himself "OK, that wasn't a liver shot so I'll let it continue". He was faced with a fighter that got dropped and wasn't defending herself.
defending herself from what? He was stopping the fight one punch in. And that punch landed to the side of the head. McMann even said she was never hit in the face when she was down. It's not a head shot. Dropping to the ground from a body shot is not serious like going limp from a head shot. 1 punch and herb was running in to stop it. It's a bad stoppage. There is no defending it.
I would pick Rousey over Cyborg with some confidence right now. Zingano, Cyborg, and Carano (with one comeback win) all make excellent opponents right now. Rousey will have the megabuck rematch with anyone who beats her, too, so she is looking at a pretty lucrative 2014 regardless of what happens next.
Yeah? If Cyborg can make 135 and be good, she is gonna light her up standing. We'll have to see how her take-down defense is though.
I think she is terrific. I wanted her to win. But not this way. Ronda is one my favorite fighters out there. This is more hate towards Dean.
They way McMann was rocking her, i give cyborg a great chance. But if it goes to the ground, fights over quick and ronda will win.

I agree with mikE, I don't see Cyborg beating Rousey. I just don't. She has better striking obviously, but I don't think her combination of striking and takedown defense is good enough to win.
