Fight that Wright wanted, but of course never happened. I remember way back in the day when Wright was still fighting the likes of Bronco McKart, DLH fans pooh-poohed this fight ("who have Wright beat??"). Both are one-handed fighters fighting in the wrong stance.. DLH with a far superior hook, of course. Given that Oscar had problems with southpaws & jabs, and Winky brings both in spades PLUS size, I'm going to go with Wright, 116-112 type decision.
Awkward, annoying fight... Hoya shoeshines and "WANTS TO FIGHT! C'MON LET'S FIGHT!" and Wright does his goddamned boring but effective bullshit... There's never so much as a rumor of a knockout or even a knockdown and at the end of it most people have Wright ahead 116-112 or 115-113... The fight itself is likely scored a draw by the judges
Agreed. Oscar didn't have the power at 154 to bother Winky much. He'd have his moments but overrall Wright would get the better work done.
Hoya knocks Wright out with a "ROCKET LEFT HOOK!" and gets "THE MOST SATISFYING, THE RICHEST, THE BIGGEST, THE MOST EMOTIONAL WIN OF HIS WHOLE CAREER!"
Are you guys referencing the derrol Coley fight? The start of delahoyas "4 fights this year, 4 knockouts" campaign
Lamps Did LOVE Him Some DeLa, Didn't He???...Makes REED Wonder if there was Ever a 3-Way Consisting of Lamps, DeLa & Lamps' LOBSTER CLAWED Ex.... REED:say:
Lamps was absolutely ridiculous when it came to any major HBO star, but De La Hoya might've been the worst. Foreman was pretty bad with DLH too.. "big, juicy shoulders"
Have to go with Stinky 'granny shorts' Wright in this one. Oscar was right to duck him, the guy was fucking horrid.
If Oscar bounces on his toes, he wins this 12-0 with 29 knockdowns He might even hit Winky so hard that he'd BREAK HIS LEGS!!
Can't believe so many have Winky winning here. Oscar clearly gets the decision. I didn't say WIN, I said gets the decision. Winky's cover-up defense allows Oscar to bounce combination and after combination off Winky's forearms and gloves. Wink's forearms and gloves take such a beating the ref considers stopping the fight. How can anyone see it otherwise?
:: it was the most comprehensive ass whipping mosley received at that point in his career. wright walked him down and beat him to the body and head. delahoya would receive a worse beating.
