man, what a fight lombard vs diego would be. even if they both lose this weekend, that's a fight i'd like to see. lombard knocks guys out and diego's been never knocked out.
It's so funny. Greg Jackson tried his best to ruin Diego's crowd-pleasing style, but when crunch time hits, Sanchez always resorts back to winging shots.
sanchez is awesome. even in losing efforts, he wins over the crowd. imagine if his fights vs. ellengeberger and melendez were 5 rounds fights.
lombard's power is scary, but if diego can survive the first round, i think he has a chance to win or at least make it close. not sure what weight class he fits at tho. i liked him more at welter. he appears weakened at lightweight.
Lombard has tremendous power, but he wings his shots. Diego likes to throw caution to the wind, but he throws pretty tight shots. He'd check Lombard's chin for sure.
UFC 171 - HENDRICKS vs. LAWLER... What a Card:clapagain:... Have 2 HARDER Punching MMAists Ever Squared Off in a High Profile, UFC Bout, than Hendricks & Lawler???...Is there ANY Chance of this Contest Making it to Even the 3rd Round (Fuck 4 & 5)???::... There's a VERY Good Chance this Ends Up Being a BAREFOOT Boxing Match, w/4oz., Fingerless Gloves...A Straight Up SLUGFEST, in Other Words...Both Guys Have EVERY Reason to Believe in their 2 Fisted Power & PREFER Standing Up, Throwing Bombs, Despite their Wrestling Backgrounds... REED Can't Recall EVER Being as EXCITED for a Matchup that DIDN'T Involve Anderson Silva, GSP or Jon Jones...Can't Wait... The Undercard is VERY Stout as Well... Tyron Woodley Couldn't Ask for a HARDER Litmus Test than Carlos Condit, who ARGUABLY Beat Johnny Hendricks (The Fight COULD'VE Been a Draw for Certain)...Diego Sanchez is NEVER in a Bad Fight, Jake Shields is Still a Player...Got a Couple TUF Alum's on the Prelims Too...Good Shit All Around... Mrs. REED ALREADY Knows Saturday's Gonna Be a LATE, Sports Bar Night for the Hubby... REED:hammert:
I don't think Hendricks is gonna want to stand with Lawler. He'll play to Lawler's weaknesses, not his strengths. I see Hendricks taking Lawler down, tiring him out, and either winning a decision or catching him in a late sub. I've been a Lawler fan since forever though, and I'll be cheering for him the whole way. I just think Hendricks is gonna end Lawler's improbable feel good story the same way JDS ended Mark Hunt's. TFK
Can't stand Hendricks. Hope Lawler pulls it out! Very bland card to be honest. Lots of good match ups but nothing really standing out.
i actually think that lawler has an advantage when it comes to striking. i expect hendricks to be more aggressive w/ his takedowns. either way, i think it's an excellent fight.
i'm leaning towards lawler. both guys hit hard, but if the two start slugging it out, i have feeling lawler will get the better of the exchanges. hendricks could win if he fights in a similar fashion as he did vs condit.
Terrific card. I honestly am on the fence about every fight on the main card. If forced to pick, I'd take Hendricks because He could easily win this fight by wrestling. The problem is that he will trade with Lawler, which makes it very interesting. Condit-Woodley is an interesting match-up. Condit pushed for this fight to be 5 rounds which means he's probably planning to implement the Greg Jackson "run and bore" game plan in order to tire Woodley. I like Condit via TKO late. Hector Lombard called Jake Shields boring. He's right but unfortunately he's about to find out how tough that boring style is to beat. Shields wins a unanimous decision.
OK...he made weight, fight is on. He was at 171.5. Go to 33:45 of this video and look at the way Hendricks is shaking. This wasn't a good cut for him. This could end bad for Hendricks. TFK
The weigh in changed my mind completely. Lawler looks absolutely focused and ready to go. Hendricks missed weight and looked almost frail. I'm betting Lawler at +325 with some confidence now.
The shaking could just be nervousness and the fact that it's cold in there. But i agree, the weight cut wasnt good, because 1. he didnt make weight and 2. his face looks pretty bad and sunk in.
Makes You Wonder what STRATEGY Hendricks Will Employ... If he Looks to OUTWRESTLE Lawler, that Could Lead to EARLY Fatigue...If he Looks to BRAWL, he's Coming Into Lawler's Wheelhouse...Either Way, the Looooooooooooooonger this Fight Goes, the WORSE It will Be For Hendricks... REED:mj:
