In the undercard of Danny Garcia vs Maricio Herrera we will watch the long delayed rematch between Daniel Ponce Deleon vs Juan Manuel Lopez. The first fight ended with an easy KO for Lopez. This time things will be different since Lopez has looked like shit in his last few fights and Ponce has performed much better. My prediction is that the Mexican will get his revenge and will stop Lopez within six rounds.

I can still remember when I first saw Juan Ma....I thought "this guy looks like a pint size Joe Louis!" He had such nice explosive power, efficiency and even his footwork, his skills at stalking his opponent were exceptional. Then I thought about Puerto Rico and how culturally and professionally there is such a good exmphasis on well rounded skills, solid punching....I look at Cuba as also having a major influence on boxing in Puerto Rico as well and I LOVE Cuban fighting techniques and Cuban fighters. I mean when you see Cotto and Trinidad most people don't even notice that these guys had many skills aside from punching.

Fast foward to this fight. For some reason juan decided to try to punch it out and it cost him a career. I still think he had the goods and it kinda breaks my heart. This guy was one of my favorites

Never thought much of Juanma......he was slow to begin with..but after a few fights he became even slower....and he was DUMB...DUMB as fuck.

He would have help his career had he develop a jab....a slow fighter throwing lead right hooks or lead left wasn't going to make it far.

Yeah he was always slow upstairs. He started slugging it out instead of developing tools. People laughed at Cotto for boxing Mosley but Cotto did rely on those skills throughout. Juan Ma developed an idea that he could punch threw em all, kind of like Bronner.

i found it odd that ponce was a substantial betting favorite despite the outcome of their first fight

Juanma got lured into the "Next Tito" bullshit and started head hunting instead of boxing smart. That's where he failed IMO.

Gee I was wrong, but I am reading that the stoppage was a bit premature. I missed the fight thinking it was going to start later. All I see in my stream is a bunch of bozos talking about British boxers.

he landed about 6 punches about 12 thrown without a response from De Leon. De Leon only returned a punch when the fight was stopped

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree then, I didn't feel De Leon was too hurt to continue at that point, he might have been a few seconds later but I'll never know, the ref was too quick.

Good stoppage. Ponce is trash. People think because he made Gamboa and Broner look average that he's something special. But he's far from that.

Lopez isn't great but against a guy with no defense or chin, he can do some damage.

He needs to use his power in spurts and explosively instead of trading. In his earlier fights he would cut the ring off really well. It seems that when he fought Salidad he just stopped everything and became a brawler. And as Illumunati said he needs a jab....Mexicans get away leading with hooks! Not Borucans!!!
