shogun had that fight in the bag but fought like a warrior instead. hendo's a tough sob. both guys are done, but still fun to watch.
Rua screwed up by going to the ground with Hendo after landing the uppercut in the 2nd. He let Henderson off the hook.
Did i miss this fight? holy shit. I never miss a fight. Does someone have a replay they can post here? I have not read the results in this thread either.
shogun clocked hendo w/ an uppercut in round 2 and i thought it was over. even in the first round, hendo hurt shogun but got caught w/ a hook that dropped him badly but he was able to hang on. shogun's never really been a conservative fighter (which is why he's always been so fun to watch) and he was insistent on going toe-to-toe against a hitter like hendo. to me, hendo is like the holyfield of mma. a guy i never really liked or rooted for, but is tough as hell and is an all time great.
Missed the fight, was watching The Walking Dead, but DVR'd it and will watch it later. Just another typical card the UFC is putting out these days though, decent main event and shit on the undercard. At least it wasn't that bullshit UFC Fightpass, like the upcoming Nog\Nelson fight. The UFC wants you to pay extra to watch free TV level fights in addition to buying their PPV's? That's nothing but pure greed if you ask me. If the UFC wants to have something like Fightpass, it should either include PPV's like the WWE Network, or you should get a free month of Fightpass if you buy a PPV. Making you pay for both is bullshit. TFK
Agree 100%. But then I asked myself when else have I ever seen a guy absolutely starched twice in a fight only to remain competitive enough to land a crushing shot like that? Hendo's chin is shot. He now has 43 year old reflexes. His output is limited to a handful of meaningful shots per round. All that said, I don't expect there's a person in the world, other than Dan Henderson, that gave him even a 1% chance of winning AFTER that uppercut knocked him senseless for the second time. I also don't think there's another fighter in the world that could have pulled that off. I've watched a shitload of MMA over the years but that is easily one of the top 2 or 3 comebacks in the sport's history. Personally I would have bet the house after the 2nd round theft Hendo was done. Oddly, I think Henderson was more badly hurt in the 1st round against Rua than he was from the Belfort head kick. The ref in the Belfort fight probably screwed fans out of something memorable. If it was Herb Dean, that would interesting.
Herb wanted to stop it too but you could see His past fuck ups flashing in his head. If MMA actually werent so quick to stop these fights you might see more of these type of comebacks and we would have more memorable fights like boxing.
