Name some matchups where Frochy takes a thrashing. I'll start with 3 fighters: Prime Jones Prime Toney Qawi Who else?
Prime Toney is not a lock, since Froch, knowing his strengths, wouldn't attack him but would instead try to use his jab. He wouldn't probably win anyway, but it wouldn't be a beating the way Jones vs Froch
Obviously Jones would beat him up worse than Toney would. I wouldn't debate that. Roy would light him up from the opening round. Froch-Toney might not be terribly ugly early, but in the later rounds I see it getting pretty ugly for Frochy.
Have to be around his weight class, just to make it a bit more fair to Frochy. Let's add to the list: Prime Hopkins Edddie Mustafa Muhammed, if Eddie decided to give a shit.
yeah but Ernie is like the default guy for non-heavyweight fighters somebody hates How many times have Whiskey and I called for Shavers/Judah over the years?
guys who'd bash froch's fucking head in: eubank, calzaghe, jones (roy jr.), hopkins, tarver, golovkin, kovalev, saad muhammad, jones (dog), foster, spinks, charles, moore, qawi, johnson (marvin), oracle, toney, hearns, liles, nunn, tunney, michalczewski, monzon, johnson (harold), hill, conn, johnson (our reggie), mcCallum, robinson, conteh, patterson, galindez, mustafa muhammad, lopez, griffin, marciano, holyfield, mcClellin
Ehhhh, Froch might outlast Benn and stop him late as Benn is tired. But, he might also simply take too many shots from Benn and get stopped. Watson would school the Hell outta Froch, and win a clear UD.
I don't think so. Toney hardly beat the shit out of people who stayed away from him. If Froch became too brave, of course Toney would shitkick him, but knowing this Froch would probably try to approach the fight the way he fought Abraham. Of course, Toney is in different class to Abraham and would win anyway, but Froch might keep it somewhat competitice
Let's get this straight. Toney was ineffective at trying to catch the most athletically gifted fighter of all time. There's no shame in that. He also struggled with Griffin, who if nothing else, was a slick fighter. Froch, even when he "boxes", is pretty easy to hit. Is he as defensively pathetic as Brandon Rios, or Angulo? No, but he still isn't a hard target. Toney's one of the most accurate punchers in history, and he was an underrated body puncher. He'd break Froch down, and by the late rounds, JT would be taking target practice.
How many fights have you seen of a prime DM? He would have SHIT on Froch! DM beat the Hell outta a better fighter than Froch anyway, in Hill. DM was far too strong, and relentless for Frochy, and he had a ramrod jab. Jesus Christ, Froch goes from underrated to overrated quickly.
Enough to know he's not that good. One thing we know about Boofski - he's a bitch. Frock isn't, and that's why I'd pick him to win.
Bigger balls RARELY wins over superior talent, and craft. That's always the problem with your thinking. So just like Tszyu would have beat the Hell outta the more "ballsy" Rios, DM would beat the Hell outta the more "ballsy" Froch.
He beat the Hell outta Hill for every round. Basically won that fight 11-1. Hill won the first round, and after that got hammered the rest of the fight. And Hill at that point was still a better fighter than Froch. DM is underrated as Hell in my mind. He'd have stood no chance against a Foster, Spinks, or Jones, but against Froch he'd look like a superstar. I'd favor a prime DM over Ward. Froch had trouble handling the pressure of an old, faded Glenn Johnson. Even got buzzed by old man Glenn at one point. A young DM's pressure would be too much for him.
Hill was overrated as fuck... he feasted on horrible opponents his whole career... Thomas Hearns was shot as hell when he beat the dogshit out of Hill... Even the Hill that DM beat was "past his prime" (whatever the hell that means in the case of such a ho-hum fighter as Hill) ... For every Hill, there's a Graciano Rocchigiani (he deserved an Oscar for that performance) ... Froch is a better fighter than Rocchigiani Unlike Hill, Froch hasn't shown a tendency to go into a shell against a top opponent, he gave a good account of himself against Ward, for example... couldn't beat the guy, wasn't good enough, but he was in the fight at least... Virgil wasn't even in the fight against a Tommy Hearns on life support I don't see how Froch is somehow a lesser fighter than the endless Flotsam with which DM padded his record
Yeah, because Froch is really comparable to Roy Jones Jr or Michael Nunn (who he KO'd anyway). This re-imagining of Toney as a counter-punching version of David Tua is ridiculous
He wouldn't need to be comparable to Jones to make it a little bit competitive though. Montell Griffin would be enough and he wouldn't have to be even that good to be mildly competitive
