There is a lot of buzz in Tinseltown that Disney will be rebooting/remaking the Indiana Jones franchise and that Bradley Cooper is apparently being considered for the role of the Fedora wearing swashbuckler archeologist. While Harrison Ford is an option too, the fact that he is too busy with other projects and that he is no spring chicken anymore to warrant a series of films in the future, has made the house of the Mouse look at a younger actor to play the role. What you guys think of Cooper as Indy?

Disney paid big dough to George Lucas for all his franchises. They will milk it until the last cent out it.

They should just have cooper as Ford's protege. Have Ford in the movie, but more as a mentor role, like Connery was in Part 3.

There's plenty of new ideas, plenty of stories, there's just no one willing to put up the money to turn them into films... they'd rather remake old hits and get dudes like Panchy to shell out $10 to go see them

You're missing another element here... It's not just that people are put off by the lack of originality, it's the fact that so many of these remakes are of films that don't seem to need to be remade... Why does "Indiana Jones" need a re-boot, exactly? A lot of these films that are targeted for remake are beloved by a lot of people, seen as great works of art, almost sacred... Naturally, people don't like it when something they love is done over again (usually in inferior fashion)

They already tried that in the last Indy movie. Shia Labeouf was supposed to be the new Indy (see he scene where he grabs the hat and puts it on himself), but after terrible preview screenings where audiences plain hated Labeouf's character, Spielberg added the shot where Ford takes the hat back!

I have no problem with Cooper as Indiana Jones in a reboot as long as they put the character in different, original adventures and not remaking the old movies. Ford was great, but he is not a Marlon Brando-like thespian in the sense that he cannot be replaced. How many James Bonds there have been? Batman? Superman? Tarzan? The character of Indiana Jones deserves new fresh adventures. If Spielberg is unavailable to direct, I will suggest the brothers Anthony & Joe Russo, who did an amazing job directing 'Captain America The Winter Soldier".

The good ideas arent coming from Hollywood. They arent coming from Movie studios. And it's the movie studios who are the decision makers and the driving forces behind these remakes.

And as far as the remakes go, there is nothing bitching about it will do. Remakes generate lots of money for hollywood and they arent stopping anytime soon.

Yup. The 'Twilight' reboot is already in the planning stages. Soon we will see a new Harry Potter. Studios aren't waiting too long to reboot, revamp and remake. Like you said, there is nothing we can do about it, except stay home and boycott those remakes. BTW, Ridley Scott is remaking 'Blade Runner' right now.

I hate reboots too. But it's just getting boring clinking on a link about a reboot and the sure enough someone is in here questioning why Hollywood needs to reboot the movies and why cant Hollywood do something original. we get it. we all feel the same way. it's just the same argument over and over.

I hear you. And like I said instead of whining about it, people should just stay home and not buy movie tickets to those films. That will send a clear message to studio executives. Unfortunately people complain about remakes, but then are the first in line to watch those remakes.

Not all reboots are bad. The James Bond franchise was rebooted with excellent results. Same with Star Trek. Spiderman? that was unnecessary, but everybody knows Sony did it mainly to retain the rights of the character which otherwise was going to be reverted back to Marvel, which was unfortunate for us fans that didn't happened.

This was always the case, but the ideas never came from them... the ideas came form the artists who created the story's they then financed... the difference now is that fewer of those get through and the suits choose to make safe, easy decisions with shite remakes with the latest CGI bullshit ... Hollywood isn't out of ideas... it's out of people willing to put up the money to transfer ideas into film

Bitching about it is catharsis... that's the whole point of doing it... how often does criticizing (bitching about) something big and firmly entrenched actually do anything? Maybe .0000001% of the time? That doesn't mean you shouldn't do it... If nobody voiced their displeasure, no one would seek to create an alternative

you know in a thread like this, people are going to voice their (well-justified) complaints... you don't like it, you can get the BOZACK

Name all the remakes from the last 20 years and there's a pretty good chance I haven't seen 99% of them and I certainly didn't go to the theaters to see them

Panchy's "the people who complain are the first in line at the theater" is, like most of the things he types, a "fact" that originated somewhere in his lower Colon

i say it's a good thing...i wish they started earlier instead of adding that last one with harison ford

The problem with remakes is that most of the directors hired to film them don't even have 1/8 the talent of the original director.
