Who does Whiskey root for in this one? But on a serious note, I think we can all agree that a young Judah would beat the shit outta Broner.
He beat Corley by a clear margin, and at the time Corley was better than AB. It's actually not far fetched to imagine Judah stopping Broner within 5. Maidana damn near iced Broner early. Zab had better one punch power than Maidana, and A LOT more speed.
It's pretty funny how Judah somehow became the most overrated fighter on fightbeat. One win against Cory spinks sure goes a long way around here.
I'm not 100% sure I'd take AB over Mickey Ward, whom Zab schooled when he wasn't even an adult yet. I see Broner struggling with Ward.
And PLEASE explain to me how Judah is overrated here? NOBODY has ever picked him over a quality fighter in a MM. Only Victor Ortiz, and AB, both whom are horrible.
Broner would beat Ward, man... come on Outside of the freak left hook to the body happening one out of 100 times, Broner would easily decision Ward
Given that AB is pretty slow on his feet, I think he would struggle. I still don't understand how Hut could say Zab is overrated here. It's not anybody's ever said he could beat Pryor, Mel Taylor, Benitez, or Chavez. Just Vic Ortiz, and Broner. Aka, the two biggest frauds of the last 5 years.
I'm not so sure Broner beats Ward either. He'd obviously be favourite but it wouldn't be a complete shock to me if he lost, Broner sucks.
Ward sucked, don't get me wrong. BUT, two things are important to factor 1. AB wouldn't be able to hurt Ward at all. 2. Ward would be able to hurt AB.
Ward had one punch that could hurt guys... the hook to the body... other than that, he had no weapons to speak of, no power upstairs at all... Furthermore, you couldn't miss the guy with a punch and it's doubtful if he ever won a round against a fast guy Outside of the freak left hook landing to the liver and the delayed reaction crumple to the canvas, Broner would easily land at will on Ward
Ward wasn't a feather-fist to the head. He just had far more power downstairs. If AB was fleet of foot, he'd be an easy choice. But he's not. He's a stationary fighter who fights in the pocket. He's also a stationary fighter who fights in the pocket who at 140 doesn't have big pop, nor a great defense. Those factors mean that Ward has a shot.
Yes he was... who did Ward drop with a head shot? He had horrendous technique on head punches, didn't use his feet and hips at all... just light, slow arm punches... he had nothing on any of his punches except that ridiculous hook to the body (which was only effective if he could land it, obviously)
I remember him hurting Shea Neary, Gatti in the first fight, and Augustus all with head shots. Been years since I watched any of those fights though. Still doesn't change the fact that AB is a stationary fighter with crap reflexes. Judah when he was young had MUCH quicker feet, and better reflexes than Broner.
relative to Ward's "sclaps" he clearly is Are we talking about the same Mickey Ward here?? Was there a a really good fighter by that name that I didn't know about? Save for his one incredible weapon, Ward was a clubfighter and his results in his career show as much
Broner dropped about 3 rounds to fuckin Molina on Saturday. Ward is Duran compared to Molina. I think things would get difficult for Broner in the late going against Ward. He'd probably survive, and win a decision though, because Ward certainly wasn't on the level of Maidana.
