He doesn't. He never did. Therefore, unless you want to stretch the meaning of "great" to include disparate entities, Cotto can not be said to have a "great" left hook

All i know is that I didnt call anyone crazy for pointing out fighters with better left hooks. There are many fighters with better left hooks than cotto's. Does not mean his left hook isnt great. I also said Cotto is a great fighter. Again, that doesnt mean he is the greatest fighter. Not anywhere close to the top of anything. But that doesnt mean he isnt a great fighter nonetheless. I have mentioned that Tito would whup his ass in the ring, as well as others. But i disagree with the notion that Vargas would beat him. I also claimed Cotto was a smart fighter.

This in no way means that cotto is the greatest fighter that ever lived or even the greatest puerto rican. It simply means that a fighter, who has consistently been a champion since 2003, in 4 different weight divisions and only 4 losses, while taking on the best, should be considered a great fighter.

"Great" means "Great"... not "good", not "very good"... it means "great"

    words have meanings

Bob Foster had a great left hook... You can find a small group of guys comparable when it comes to that same punch... Foster's hook is "great", so the same would be said for those chaps

Miguel Cotto's hook clearly doesn't warrant mention in that kind of company (which you have admitted I think??) so therefore it can't be "great" if the standard for "great" is guys like Foster

The whole argument was about whether or not he has a "great" left hook... that's where it started

Im reading them. Did i quote them? No. When i reply to someone's specific words, i quote them. Always have. When i said you guys are crazy, i was speaking about saying that Cotto only had a good left hook and wasn't an intelligent fighter. I would never fucking say someone is crazy for saying tito, chavez, frazier and tyson had a better left hook than cotto. Dont be fucking stupid.

    First off, where?

Secondly, what page was that on?

You just insert replies in weird spots for the hell of it?

I'd say the response makes absolutely zero sense if you are claiming that is what is aimed at

If you look at prior to the illu's, people were saying he didnt have a great left hook only good. I was replying to several people's posts about that. If i was replying to Illu's post about other fighters having greater hooks, why would i say "you guys" when illu was the only one that said it? I will even go one step further. When i posted that video with the words "you guys are crazy", i had not even seen illu's post yet.

Why the fuck would i say someone is crazy for claiming mike tyson had a better left hook than miguel cotto. Be fucking real man.

You are basically saying there are no levels of greatness.

so basically you were saying Miguel Cotto had a great left hook and everybody else thought that was nuts and gave examples of people who actually had great left hooks and you totally agree with that and they definitely had much better hooks than Cotto... so your argument boils down to wanting to be able to liberally apply the word "great" to things??

    Terrible analogy

A more accurate one to your position would be like "A top 200 list can be considered just as exclusive as a top 20 list"

nobody but illu gave an example of people's great hooks prior to my crazy comment. And again, i didnt see his comment until i posted the video with the crazy comment in it either. I was calling people crazy for saying he didnt have a great left hook and wasnt and intelligent fighter.

he doesn't have a great left hook, though... ultimately it comes down to your use of the word "great"... Your argument is basically "I want to liberally apply the word great to stuff and you guys ARE CRAZY for not agreeing" ... Is it not?

Sure he was a little past prime, but he still managed to beat a world class fighter in Castillejo in his previous fight

Cotto would be too crafty and skilled for poor old Nando, and too hard a puncher, especially his left hook.

Cotto wouldn't beat the wright or Ike that Vargas beat... Take it to the bank... He also gets stopped sooner against Trinidad and Hoya

Cotto lost to Clottey in my book. Ike would have busted him up. Vargas was VERY physically strong and could push Ike back. Cotto........ could not.

Cotto in 07 was at his peak, and Vargas in 06 was 6 years past his prime. Great comparison...............
