I really think DLH with his height and jab would not have had that much trouble beating Tszyu. Thing is, Tszyu was an offensive fighter but he was never one to bob and weave his way in like he would need to do against ODH. Plus, he wasn't some great counter - puncher either. I think ultimately, it would just be a question of discipline for ODH...not getting careless and throwing his jab consistently. I think it's a terrible style matchup for Tszyu and also, I have a hard time recalling Tszyu in there with any amount of height. And he generally seemed to fight as the taller fighter. Am I forgetting anyone? Btw, was watching ggg fight the other night on replay and he's very reminiscent of Tszyu.
I'd take Oscar via late TKO. It would be a good fight but young Oscar at 140 was too big and too fast I think.
Firstly, I dunno where you get Tszyu not being a good counter puncher. Tszyu was an excellent counter puncher, especially earlier in his career when he had good reflexes. Secondly, Tszyu was a midget, so his opponents were ALWAYS taller. Tszyu was listed at I guess 5'7, but I think he was really 5'5. He was 5'6, tops. I would favor DLH here, but I think it's a very difficult fight for him. The styles favor Tszyu in many ways, because Kostya fared better against boxers who gave him distance to operate, as opposed to guys who took the fight to him. That's why I think Pryor, and prime Chavez would have beaten Tszyu down. In the end I do make Oscar a favorite, because in DLH's defense, Tszyu never fought anybody with the overall physical gifts and power that Oscar had.
I agree Tszyu looked no more than 5'6. I think Oscar would win this fairly easily. He even has the chin to take the odd Tszyu right hand without a problem. To big to fast to powrfel.
Tszyu and Oscar have a lot in common. Kostya likes long tails hanging from the back of his head. Oscar likes long tails inserted in his ass.
His opponents may have been taller than him but not materially. Hatton. Tackie. Judah. Mitchell. All shorter guys themselves. Hurtado or Pineda may be the tallest. Hard to think of a recent top guy at 140 who never moved to 147. But Tszyu never did. Maybe because he's in shit shape against taller guys?
Tszyu would have been in way over his head against a Quartey, or Tito at 147. Ike would have beaten the Hell outta him, and Tito would have knocked him out violently. Tszyu the the very definition of a junior welter. Too big to be a lightweight, and too small to be a welterweight. To my knowledge, he never had much trouble at all making 140.
I never saw any reason for Tzysu to move up past 140. Some fighters are suited for a certain weight and Tzysu belonged at 140.
I agree. Tszyu was a true 140 pounder in the sense X said: too big for 135 and too small for 147. And it's one reason he never would've beaten ODH. That, plus ODH 's speed and jab.
Believe it or not, I thought I heard somewhere that gay dudes on average have bigger dilzes... No idea if that's true
Cervantes struck me as another guy damned to be stuck at 140... Too long to be a lightweight too narrow to fill out as a true welterweight
But in this case aren't they both gay? Zoo is very small though. He prolly packs only a 3 inches but maybe it's a Downey chode like Hanzy has
You're forgetting two important factors; Oscar is Mexican, and Tszyu is Asian. The two races cursed in the dick department.
