I thought the reporter asked a legitimate question and Tyson melted down. Then the reporter said, "Come on, Mike. We're on live tv!" Tyson snapped back, "What are you gonna do about it?"

One thought: when you're a convicted rapist and you want to be in show business, you have to be able to handle these kinds of questions in interviews.

    Thoughts?

And what did the guy do about it???

Conducted the interview politely while Tyson grew increasingly impolite.

Perhaps Tyson thought that questions like this would never come up?

I agree with mike here. He is not there to discuss what happened 23 years ago. He is there to promote his play. The question was fucked up because it made no sense. Why the fuck would tyson hurt Ford's chances? Ford is a fucking train wreck. He doesnt need tyson to hurt him.

That black boy was looking for a reaction out of Michael to get himself some 15 min of fame.

Regardless of his celebrity status, he's a convicted felon of one of the ugliest crimes out there. He wasn't asked to discuss specifically what happened 23 years ago, but I thought the question was a fair one. Ford's support is Conservative. Tyson isn't exactly a model citizen. Having convicted felons endorsing you isn't exactly like having the Pope's vote, and some might be turned off by Tyson's image.

It was the way he said it. CONVICTED RAPIST...he was looking for a reaction and he got it. Plus do you really think people would vote against Ford solely because Tyson endoreses him? Anyone with a half a brain knows that Tyson doesn't know what the fuck he's endorsing he's just being nice.

    THIS...

Had the Interviewer Simply Said, "Mike, You've Had Some Issues in your Past....Blah, Blah, Blah", Things Would've Gone MUCH Smooooother...

Looked to REED Like the Interviewer was TRYING to See what he Could Get Away w/..."Look @ ME, I'm a BADASS!!!...I Called Mike Tyson a "Convicted Rapist" to his FACE"...If it NEVER Dawned on Dude that Mike Tyson just MIGHT Be Putoff by the Term "Convicted Rapist", he's a COMPLETE Dumbass Who Should FOREVER Have his Privileges as a Credentialed Member of the Media STRIPPED Away...

Lucky for his Sorry Ass, Mike had Already Taken his Zoloft or he'd Be Tyson's "Girlfriend" by Now...

There's A WAY to Go About Asking "Tough" Questions, Buddles...

NOBODY Wants to Be Ridiculed or Belittled, Least of All a Very SENSITIVE Dude like Tyson...In NO Way was that a Harmless, Innocent Question...Dude KNEW there was a Good Chance Calling Tyson a "Convicted Rapist" WOULDN'T Go Over Well (If he's even the LEAST Bit Aware of WHO Mike Tyson Is), but his SORRY Ass Did it Anyways...

    Fuck That...

He's lucky he called the 2014 version of Mike a convicted rapist..if he says the same thing to the Tyson of say 1998 ..Mike simply stands up..they panic and quickly cut to commercial...and when they come back it looks something like this

Buddy imagine some 20+ years ago you tickled a little boy a little too far down south...20 years pass..you wrote a book on say competitive trampoline jumping...you get on tv to promote this crap....and the interviewer goes...do you think the trampoline book will sell being that you are a CONVICTED CHILD MOLESTER ?!! Tell me that's not digging for something...and it seriously damages your current image/financial prospects. Same situation with Tyson...if it was Don King and not Tyson..do you think the guy would call King a murderer ? Ya.no

He basically said a piece of shit like Ford could be in trouble politically by being seen with Tyson. If that's not a slap in the face, i dont know what is. Dont have a guy on your show to promote his play and then insult him.

i dunno, I think its good to bring up the past for criminals

criminal records hurt every felon for the remainder of their life, why should Tyson be different?

he didnt just bring it up. He said should a crack smoking asshole be worried about being seen with a convicted rapist. He says this while he is a guest on his show to talk about something positive.

so? why is that a negative question exactly?

Mike could have spun it into a positive response about change and learning from the past

Because this isnt an interview from a reporter. This is something done to promote his show. I'm sure there was a discussion prior to the show that went over what they would be discussing. And im pretty damn sure this was not brought up.

fuck him, he should get asked about being a convicted rapist in everything he does :bears:

if he's buying groceries the cashier should ask 'being a convicted rapist, would you like a paper bag or plastic bag?'

I have no doubt that the reporter was digging, but I think the difficult questions should be asked and the convicted criminals should be held accountable. I don't think child molesters, murderers, or rapists should be coddled at all in interviews, regardless of how much they want soft questions and a chance to plug their show business endeavors.

Boss, the difference between a child molester and a rapist is simply the age of the victim, and you're defending the convicted rapist/child molester (semantics) with great enthusiasm---and with your initial scenario on child molestation, it appears you're a child molester sympathizer who would want it swept under the rug in the sake of profit.

I'd be interested in hearing Tyson answer the difficult questions instead of getting antagonistic and acting like he was some kind of victim. Teddy Atlas put a gun to Tyson's head for a reason.

"What are you gonna do about it?" Tyson reverted to being a thug, basically asking the reporter if he was going to stop him. Tyson, a former heavyweight champion, is trying to provoke a fight when the reporter is trying to conduct an interview. If Tyson were unfairly convicted, you'd think he'd be arguing that conviction all the time from the top of his lungs, instead of just saying "I didn't do it", like O.J. Simpson and hoping people wouldn't mention it.

Why should Tyson be treated any differently than Tony Ayala Jr? Because he achieved more and had better highlight reels before he got put in the shitter?

  25. Buddy Rydell

    Buddy Rydell Boxingpress Alumnus

I think Rob Ford, a crack smoking asshole, should be worried about being seen with a convicted rapist---let alone endorsed by one, but Ford is a former white collar drug dealer with no shame so that's a bit superfluous.

Tyson may have been there to plug his own show (in the company of his paid sycophant), but Tyson should realize people are going to be curious about his past, and they will want to bring it up. So he's going to throw shitfits and challenge people?

  26. Buddy Rydell

Interviewers are reporters. How dare this guy ask something which I'm sure a lot of people would like to hear Tyson answer? Tyson's response wasn't to say "I didn't do it"---his response was to get aggressive with the reporter and spaz out.

It's not the Frost-Nixon interview man, it's some sort of light daytime slot to promote a play. They probably cut from this to somebody cooking a souffle with the presenters or a makeover segment.
