Good to See Some of Fightbeat's Finest Speak on This...

It Actually OFFENDS REED When Floyd Refers to Himself as "T.B.E."...REED had a Fairly HEATED Argument w/Some Young Dumbass, @ Hooter's the Other Night, & a Lengthy Text Exchange w/a Childhood Friend who NEVER 1nce Showed the Least Bit of Interest in Boxing, Until the Last Couple Years...

In Both Instances, they Ran Off @ the Mouth on that "Floyd is the Best EVER" Bullshit...Honestly, REED Nearly Vomited When the Young Buck Said It...

Or Maybe it was the Fact REED had Been Drinking MOST of the Day...

Youngens I hate 'em....I don't know I guess they google/yahoo search past Welterweight....they name drop Leonard, Hearns, Whitaker, Duran, Trinidad, De La Hoya, etc....they would all fall to FLOYD greatness...at best they probably saw one youtube fight of these guys..ALL of sudden they are fucking experts.

When it concern Trinidad, De La Hoya, Whitaker...I don't say much..just tell 'em if those guys were around today...FLOYD would have kept his ass at 135...Look how much trouble a pass his prime De La Hoya gave PRIME Floyd....

but then they get cute...Floyd would make Duran quit....Floyd defense is too good for Leonard....and this is my favorite Floyd would outbox and probably Ko Hearns(because Leonard/Hagler did it).....and that's when I get MAD..."are you fucking stupid? if there is one fighter in history that's FLOYD kryptonite it's THOMAS HEARNS...fuck is floyd going to do SHOULDER roll his way to victory?"

    Motherfuckin' youngenS!

The Young Buck REED was Arguing w/Went the A-B-C Route, when REED Mentioned Paquiao as 1 Reason Why Floyd Ain't "T.B.E."...Motherfucker DIDN'T Even Know JM Marquez's Name, yet Said, "Pacquiao Got KO'ed by a Guy Floyd Beat EASY, So Why Should Floyd Fight Him? That Wouldn't Even Be a Fight!"...

After Informing him Pac HAS Beaten Marquez Before, REED Pointed Out Ali's LOSSES to Frazier & Norton, Coupled w/Foreman DESTROYING Them Both, & How it Meant Absolutely NATHAN When Ali & Foreman Met...

Sad Part is, the Young Buck was the "Boxing Guy" in his Clique...But it Damn Sure Felt Good EDUCATING his Stupid Ass, in Front of his Boys...

Do you think maybe this guy needs to go on a long vacation? Perhaps somewhere he can appreciate nature. You know, really feel the earth's soil.

nothing trumps when i was arguing with some kid at the basketball court and suggested ray robinson was better than mayweather jr. he scoffed at such a claim.

of course that was when his infamous answer came about. i asked who he'd seen ray robinson fight and he said "ROBERT DURAN"

He was an Alright Young Dude Overall, REED Guesses...

He "Don't Know SHIT about Boxin'", as Uncle Roger Would Say, and Kept Calling REED "Ol' School", but Beyond That, the Exchange was Mostly Good Natured...

REED Doubts he CHANGED the Motherfuckers Opinion Though...REED Doesn't Wish Death Upon Dude, but Holding him UNDERWATER for an Uncomfortably Loooooooooong Period of Time, Isn't a Bad Idea....

I wish he had fought Shane Mosley at 135. That would have been a hell of a fight.

in my mind it's a huge compliment to floyd jr to suggest he could possibly even be competitive with some of these greats.. and i think he possibly could and that's saying a lot right there and maybe a stretch

REED Can't See Floyd Being Competitive AT ALL w/Tommy Hearns...No Way, No Chance, No How...

Floyd's Competitive in SPOTS w/Duran, Leonard & Pryor, but LOSES To them All Pretty Decisively...

mayweather jr would definitely be competitive with duran or pryor at 135lbs, i think he gets KOd by leonard or hearns at welter

Agreed on all counts. (of course PBF would never fight any of them). Hearns would destroy PBF

Duran, and Pryor both defeat Floyd.

    Chavez beats Floyd at lightweight.

At junior welter, I'd probably take Floyd over Chavez.

Whitaker didn't have Floyd's longevity (for obvious reasons), but to me, a prime Whitaker is simply better, and more dominant than Floyd, and would UD him.

Same with Benitez. I've ALWAYS felt that El Radar would have been too much for Floyd to figure out.

Other than those 5 guys, I'd probably favor Floyd over anyone else in history 130-140.

As Neil said, at 147, there's a NUMBER of welterweights who would have beaten Floyd.

Truth be told, at 147 I wouldn't take Floyd over Quartey, and Tito, LET ALONE Leonard, and Hearns.

Curry would have definitely spanked Floyd at welter. Napoles would have spanked him at welter as well.

Whether or not Duran, Chavez, Whitaker, etc.defeat Floyd at 135, Neil is correct that there's no way any of them just easily sweep him aside... I think it's hardly a stretch to say so... Remember, the "130" Floyd was essentially a Ligthweight by the standards of those older days, particularly Duran's time... He was essentially 135+ in the ring, a ligthweight... and can any one deny that he was an indisputably great fighter at that time? ... The Welterweight? No, just no. Not a great welterweight by any stretch... Not only did he fail to fight the best available comp at that weight, the comp he has fought have been overwhelmingly shit

Duran would stop Floyd, IMO. Floyd wouldn't be able to deter Duran, he wouldn't be able to avoid him due to Duran's foot speed, and he wouldn't be able to deal with Duran's mauling.

He might last the distance in a 12 rounder. If it's a 15 rounder, my money is on Duran by stoppage.

I could see Mosley beating Floyd at 135 as well. In fact, I'd favor Shane over Floyd at 135.

A lightweight Mosley is a COMPLETELY different animal than the corpse Floyd beat in 2010.

i'd also favor duran, but i can also see floyd beating him on a bad night. i'm more confident in picking whitaker over pryor than floyd over pryor, but i can still see floyd outboxing pryor.

can't think of a single fighter at 130 who would beat floyd. floyd vs chavez at 135 would be a toss up.

head to head, i'd pick leonard and/or hearns to stop mayweather, but in terms of accomplishments, i'd rate floyd higher based on size, longevity, and consistency.

as most in this thread I agree PBF is hardly TBE and most listed are fighters I see as well taking his 0 except one, Pryor. He seems to have alot backing on FB, maybe brother REED or brother X can state his status on this board to me.

I dont tear Aaron down as some scrub , I just dont think he is a shoe in against PBF at 140

Mosley and De La Hoya in their first fight, both those versions beat Mayweather.

The best thing Floyd has going for him is timing. It allowed him to beat guys he normally wouldn't have beaten. I was as big of a DLH hater as there was out there but even with that said, Oscar fought Quartey, Trinidad and Mosley all in their primes. Floyd couldn't bring himself to face Margarito. He opted into fighting Baldomir then Judah after Judah lost to Baldomir.

So yes...as a welterweight Floyd is shit.

I'm not certain I'd pick Floyd over Duran at welter or lightweight. Floyd might have enjoyed success at first but Duran would have grinded him down. Let's be honest, Floyd had issues with Castillo's physical strength in their first fight.

Floyd's more like "T.B.O." "The Best Opportunist."

He has a better chance of beating DLH, than Duran.

Duran would have beaten the shit outta Floyd, in all honesty.

But I agree. At welter, the 2000 versions of Mosley, and DLH beat Floyd.

What about Floyd vs Esteban DeJesus? I think that would have been interesting.

Carlos Ortiz gives Mayweather hell IMO.

Both those Ricans would be difficult fights for Floyd.

I'll add two more Ricans would be difficult fights for Floyd; Camacho, and Rosario.
