klitschko is not among the top 10 fighters on the planet pound for pound. that is preposterous. the last guy he fought was a completely skill-less caveman.
Guillermo Rigondeaux is THE Best Fighter in the World, @ the Moment, but he's Soooo POORLY Promoted by Top Rank, he's Not Put on Display Enough or MATCHED w/the Type of Guys to Showcase his Talents in the Proper Light...Rigondeaux ISN'T White, Mexican or American, he DOESN'T Speak a Lick of English, he's a Lower Weight Guy & he's a Natural Counterpuncher... All Recipes for Being Criminally NEGLECTED by Bob Arum... Andre Ward is Probably # 2, but he Acts like Beating Dawson @ a LOWER Weight is the Type of Win he Can Live Happily Ever After On, which is Bullshit...Fans have LITTLE Interest in Ward Too, but they SHOULD, Since he's Potentially a PIVOTAL Player in the Career Arch's of Kovalev & GGG... REED Can't Blame Anybody for Placing Floyd # 1, but he's Only Going Through the Motions These Days & has NO Interest in Accentuating his Legacy, so REED Refuses to Play Along... 1. Rigondeaux 2. Ward 3. Floyd Pac's Still in the Picture, Cotto May have Crept Back into the Lower Lb for Lb Picture...Kovalev Likely Joins the Party Off his Latest Win...Terrance Crawford May Be Knocking on the Door...Mikey and Danny Garcia Have to Be Considered... Sorry, but WHAT has GGG DONE to Be Top 10 Lb for Lb???...Again, HUNCHES Don't Count, Here...Lb for Lb is about What You've Actually DONE, So Guy's LACKING Even 1 Signature Win Need NOT Apply:shit #2:... Like it or Not, Wladimir Klitschko is CLEARLY a Top 10 Lb for Lb Guy...This ISN'T Even Debateable, Honestly...Lb for Lb is NOT about Who you LIKE, or What MANNER Of Fighting he Chooses...Wlad's RECORD & the DURATION of his Reign Speaks for Itself...& it's Not like ALL of his Opponents were Straight Up Bums Either... REED:mj:
The guy's a diaper weight. He was on hbo by his 4th fight. He got a fight with donaire. He's been on hbo tons! And you want to blame top rank? What else do you want them to do? He's been on high profile ppv under cards. Just sounds silly for you to blame top rank when every door's been open for this guy.
I disagree about rigondoux over ward. Guillermo has fought lesser opposition than ward, and has generally been less dominant than Ward. I never saw the fight, but i know some persons tought he lost against Cordoba, the very same Cordoba who was koed by the very ordinary Bernard Dunne. He's a top fight, but having him at nb 1 is premature imo. He only have one truly elite fighter on his resume, after that, his next best opponent is agebko, who's a very good fighter, but a few notch under the elite. I think that ward is definitvely ahead of him.
Andre Ward hasn't had a fight in over a year... Before that, it was another year and two months earlier that he beat Chad Dawson The Froch fight was nearly three years ago Even in this climate, can you really sustain a P4P #1 or #2 claim on that?
Agreed, no way he is even top 3. Plus I've said all along Ward isn't quite as good as everyone thinks. He is clearly legit, and top 5 P4P, but a bit like Donaire - he's never been in Pacquiao or Floyd's league. This will become clear when Kovalev thumps him, if Ward fancies his chances that is :kidcool:
the win over donaire gives walters a better resume for sure. i just dont consider walters some great pound for pounder when he is clearly much bigger than the guys he is fighting.
On other hand, GGG stands well above his own division and everybody there would start as a big underdog against him. Same can't be said of Walters
which klitschko opponents were non bums? do you rank Pulev among the top 500 p4p? he appeared quite skill-less
Anyone who had Cordoba Winning that Bout Should NEVER Watch Another Boxing Match, Because they're Clueless... Rigondeaux Dominated Early, As Usual, Forcing Cordoba to Go into a Shell...Rigondeaux then COASTED, the Bout Became Boring and a Desperate Cordoba Registered a BALANCE Knockdown Late... Literally, the Fight Wasn't Close at All and at NO Point Did it Appear Rigondeaux Might Lose... REED
rigondeaux looked shitty vs cordoba and ran out of gas. it was like his 5th fight and he didnt even have a legitimate pro strength/conditioning regiment.
I had Cordoba comfortably ahead going into the last round. Jose Feliciano was in charge of my scorecard.
To accurately rate Rigo I think we should concentrate on how he looked in the beginning of his pro career instead of this stage when he has made "improvements" that give us a totally wrong picture of his actual abilities
You or REED Could've Gotten a 2-time Gold Medalist That Level of Exposure, Especially Considering the INFLUX of Highly Touted Cuban Ammy's Turning Pro.and the FACT Rigondeaux was Widely Considered THE Best of that Lot... Look at Floyd Mayweather, who Arum All but SABOTAGED, in Comparison to the Level of Promotion Floyd's Received in the Post-Arum Years... At Best, Arum's Been DISINTERESTED in the Promotion of Guillermo Rigondeaux. REED
In No Particular Order: Povetkin, Peter, Thompson, Haye, Chambers and Chagaev...Those Guys WEREN'T Considered Bums when Wlad Fought Them... Vitali's the 1 Noteworthy Heavy Wlad Has Failed to Face in Damn Near a DECADE...REED has No Doubt Deontay Wilder will Get his Shot Before Looooooooong... w/Out Question, Wladimir Klitschko is a Top 10 Lb for Lb'der... REED
i dont think those guys are much better heavyweights than some of the trash middleweights golovkin has beat
based on skill not accomplishment. if we are basing things on accomplishment its hard to justify rigondeaux as #1. which i do
Wladimir has dominated the heavyweight division for years...no question about it...is he in the discussion as a TOP 5 P4Pounder...HELL NO...should he be in the top 10? Yes....Top 5? of course not. Wladimir seems to fight someone decent once in a while...Povetkin,Haye...but most of his opponents have been BUMS...or over the hills average fighter at best in their primes(Rahman, Peters(average n over the hill version), Mormeck(decent cruiser), Chagaev(average), etc..etc.... Not Wladimir fault...he has fought everyone...I haven't follow the heavyweight division since LL vs. Vitaly....but I don't see anyone worth a damn american...or european... Is Wladimir top 10 P4P yes......is GGG a pound for pounder? FUCK NO.....at least eh bums Wladimir is fighting are TOP guys in his division or other belt holders...GGG is making his run at greateness behind bullshit HYPE of the most FEARED fighter in boxing...the one NOBODY wants to fight...the great DESTROYER...
Rigondeaux HAS Accomplished More than GGG, In Considerably FEWER Fights...& he's Only like a YEAR or So Older... REED Isn't Sure GGG's Faced a Guy On Cordoba's Level, Nevermind Agbeko or Donaire, Who HADN'T Lost a Fight in a Baker's Dozen Worth of Years, was a CONSENSUS Top 5 (@ Worst) Pound for Pounder AND the Reigning "Fighter of the Year", Coming into that Bout...& Rigondeaux NEVER Shies Away from Facing BIGGER Men (In Fact, he ALWAYS Faces BIGGER Men), Something GGG & His Legion of Male Concubines Have Nightmares About... Sorry, but there's NO Case for GGG Being Top 10 Pound for Pound, Other than FANDOM...Not Right Now...Moreso, There's NO Case for Excluding Wlad from the Top 10, Other than HATE... REED:hammert:
More Importantly, Does he have a Fight on the Horizon???...Is Ward Even NEGOTIATING w/Anybody???...Does he Have Even a RUMORED Return Date???... As Turned Off as REED is by Floyd, @ Least he FIGHTS 2wice a Year...Ward Can't Even Muster 1 Bout per Calendar Year... Bottom Line is, Andre Ward Simply CANNOT Be Treated or Rated as an ACTIVELY Competing Prizefighter...By his OWN Volition!!...Kovalev Would Fight him TOMORROW, Hell, Stevenson Would Likely Fight him Too... Does Ward WANT to Fight???... REED:hammert:
But yes, let's forget his whole career and only consider the donaire fight,. That's a much more rational way of judging him
