You drive down a motorway at 170 plus for several hours in a vehicle that was in no way, shape or form built for comfort? While surrounded by a bunch of other dudes doing the same thing and you are all trying to get in the lead?

This is like comparing hitting a heavy bag with fighting Manny Pacquaio

I'm sure competitive motorsport requires a high level of concentration. Driving for a couple of hours (and it is usually two hours, rather than 'several') competitively requires alertness, awareness etc. So does chess. Both can be sports. Neither is athletic.

If someone said to me 'Lewis Hamilton is a world class athlete' I'd laugh in their face. He drives a car. He isn't Mo Farah.

Not a world class athlete, but definitely more of an athlete than a guy who tosses darts for a living

Neither is an athlete, obviously. I'm not even sure what the debate is here.

I'd die of boredom. I actually like driving, I find it a great stress reliever, but going round and round and round, even at that speed, would be fucking bish IMO.

Well, I'd agree that motor racing drivers are more athletic than your average professional darts player. Neither is particularly physically strenuous. One of them involves sitting down throughout and (unlike cycling and rowing) they are propelled mechanically.

It's mentally exhausting. It isn't physically exhausting, though, unless you are driving for so long that you need sleep.

Aye but even more so that my current job. Stuck in the one position is very draining on the body. For me, it was a very strange and difficult type of exhaustion to deal with.

NUFC nil-one down. Terrible goalkeeping error separating the sides. Riviere is fucking shit. If we score next we'll win this. Spurs are poo.

Cabella has just missed an absolute fucking sitter. And I mean an absolute sitter. Two yards out, unmarked, open target. Useless cunt missed the ball entirely.

Hideous fact - no NUFC player has EVER scored a league cup quarter final goal.

Fiiiiiiirstly, where do you draw the line between physical and mental exhaustion? Lactic acid, cortisol build up, when you're done you're done. Secondly, ya nutter, comparing driving on a motorway to executing a hairpin turn at 210 miles an hour with another car trying to overtake you because they both happen in a car makes aboooot as much sense as comparing shopping in Boots the chemist and Froch-Kessler II because both can happen in the o2 arena.:will: Or like, some other better crazy comparison of your choice.
