Andre Ward is an inside fighter, basically... He's a slick, somewhat dirty inside fighter... The hardest thing for anybody to do at 175 was get inside on a prime Bob Foster because A) He had one of the best jabs ever ... B) He had a brutal right hand to follow it and C) He had the best left hook in the history of the division waiting for you if you got past A and B Ward is all wrong for Bob Foster... He doesn't have the power to turn the fight momentarily in his favor with a big shot... He can't live with him at long range... If he manages to occasionally get inside, he will have taken a lot of punishment to get there... Ward's got two choices, spend a frustrating night on the outside getting picked off and lose a one-sided decision OR try consistently to get close, in which case, he's taking a nap
ward wins the first few rounds, but eventually, Foster jab start to find his mark, and he either lose a clear UD, or get ktfo.
If you're only talking about power I agree, but if were talking about the whole package, I don't think it's even near to being the best. His left hook was wde and sloppy.
Da FUCK???? You just made Foster sound like Ricardo Mayorga. Foster knew how to set up his hook extremely well, behind his piston jab and right hand, the hook followed. Another thing, people talk about Foster's hook so much they tend to forget he was a two-fisted puncher. His right hand was murderous as well....... it's just that his left hook was unholy.
did he set it up well. Yes, never disagreed with that. But if you takr his left hook independantly of the rest of his arsenal, I don't think it was that special, except for the power he had in it. Hence, why I don't think his left hook is anywhere near the best ever in boxing. Frazier left hook was much more fluid and fast imo.
