I think Matthysse is #1 in line though to get a shot (and I can see him facing Provodnikov for the belt), but could Crawford jump the queue as they say? He sells tickets and is a rising star.
The alphabets don't spend a lot of time fretting over somebody's worthiness to fight for one of their "world championships". All that matters is that somebody is.
Why do people continue to ignore the realities of boxing when discussing prospective match-ups? It's a futile exercise. Crawford isn't going to face anyone not promoted by top rank. So the real question is, who's at 140 and promoted by top rank?
Pacquiao would thump the shit out of Crawford, that's not an interesting fight. I'd rather see Pacquiao rematch Cotto at 154, or fight Provo or Garcia or Lucas at 140.
Pacquiao is moving down to 140 precisely because top rank has nobody for him at 147...154... Wouldn't be surprised if TR ultimately sells everyone on lomachenko/pacquiao..lomachenko/m. Garcia...and of course crawford. It's top rank boxing.
Isn't rios and Alvarado definitively at 147 now? There will probably be a bunch of light weights who also move up. And those will be the guys Crawford fights.
