http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lCiDIcqMe0 It's got a bunch of Europeans (Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts) playing Brooklynites and looks like a grimy crime movie in the vein of Killing Them Softly. It's also James Gandolfini's last movie. Hopefully it turns out good.
Saw it: I really liked this one. It's the movie Killing Them Softly should have been. There isn't a lot of action in this but the story and how it develops is top notch. Both Tom Hardy and James Gandolfini were great in this IMO. Loved the last 15-20 minutes which the film builds up too. It's definitely a dialogue heavy drama with little action, but it never tried to be too clever like KTS and The Counselor. Those who don't like this kind of movie should stay clear and stick to shit like Godzilla and Transformers. 7.5/10
It wasn't bad but it moved very slowly and there was basically no reason to have much interest in any of the characters let alone like them. I guess we were supposed to look at Tom Hardy's character as a great guy because he was guilted into adopting an abused dog. The ending was OK but it took too long to get there. 6/10 for me but i'm sure most will like it more than i did.
:: Not interested in that garbage either. I downloaded The Drop because it had suck excellent scores on RT but I just didn't think it was all that great. Not a bad movie by any means but nothing to get excited about.
I haven't seen it yet, I read the short story it's based on and liked that one. I like slow burn, character driven crime movies with a good sense of time and location, and this seems like it's that kind of movie. I'll see it later this month.
Was Hardys character slightly retarded or suffer brain damage previously? Because thats what it felt like. I enjoed the movie though. Solid 7/10.
Like I said above, I really liked this one. Finally got around to watching it again last night and it's even better on the second viewing as I caught some stuff I missed before.
