The Duran that capped off the trilogy with Sugar Ray, how does he fare against Joppy in a puncher's ring?

I read in boxing monthly that if Joppy had faced the Duran that faced Hagler, he would have been "Lucky to leave the ring under his own steam".

I think Duran, at 38, decisions him.

Joppy was a brave, determined but utterly limited fighter who knew his limitations.....he used to have window-washing business on the side when he wasn't fighting, hardly the sign of a guy who is convinced of his own earning potential as a boxer.

In fact somebody broadsided him one day when he was out driving his van and put him out of action for quite some time.

Duran probably wins it but Joppy was more of a mover and I could see that frustrating Duran

Duran batters him in 1 sided fashion.

Duran at 38? Sure, he performed well in the Barkley fight but Barkley was relatively stationary and liked to mix it up... He looks like absolute MIERDA in the Leonard fight and Leonard was no spring chicken himself, won every round by just dancing away... Joppy was a mediocre titlist but he was athletic and could stink the joint out if he had to... I can't see any scenario where this Duran beats him in one-sided fashion

Joppy is like, not as good as Leonard, Barkley, or Hagler.

Duran is the fucking man, silly young Nigel could barely lay a glove on him.

38 year old Duran would have gotten stomped by the Hagler from 1983

Joppy need be only 1/8 as good as the older Leonard who embarrassed Duran in fight number 3 and it'd be a close fight... Barkley had a perfect style and perfect flaws for old Duran to look good against and even THAT was an extremely close fight

Joppy might have beaten Trinidad had it not been for the loaded gloves. Truth can be hard.

In fairness, Benn in 1988 was a very very raw fighter. He was raw as fuck in 1990, never mind 1988

Good find tho' Khneil, you otherwise useless cunt.

Been a pro for one year by 1988, but aye, I enjoyed watching that.
