In an elimination bout to determine the next challenger for Rousimar Palhares and his World Series of Fighting 170 pound belt, Jake Shields completely out-classed Brian Foster winning via rear naked choke in the 1st round.

So, while Scott Coker is trying his best to destroy any credibility the Bellator organization might have earned, the Word Series of Fighting has set up a really interesting bout between Palhares and Shields.

While both guys are considered UFC cast offs, both had solid records over their last handful of fights in the organization. Each probably places among the top 10 to 12 fighters in the world at 170 pounds. Along with Ben Askren, Shields and Palhares are likely the best fighters not in the UFC. And they are set to meet under the WSOF banner.

shields vs palhares is an interesting fight. i think shields can avoid getting leg locked and outwork palhares w/ superior all around grappling. i would be really impressed if palhares was able to secure his signature leg lock and win in the first round.

Agree. It's not a match up everyone will enjoy but I am dying to see how it plays out. Shields can't really count on winning a stand up battle so he will have to work for a takedown. What happens then?

    Thats why I can't wait.

Hell, I didn't even know Askren had fought since Bellator. Askren matches up terribly against Palhares.
